Kentucky Whiskey
Found this old ad for Sunny Brook Kentucky Whiskey, which I hadn't heard of.
![]() Maybe it was before my time so I wondered if it's still around. Google knows all so I searched and found, The Sunny Brook Distillery Co. was owned and run by Rosenfield Bros & Co. in Chicago. Now wait a minute, Chicago, if it says KY it's gotta be made in KY, plus Rosenfield Bros don't sound like good old boys. Sunny Brook brand established in 1891 and sold nationally in 1892, buying from a KY distillery and owning a piece of another one. Immediately bought two more distilleries, both having the same address of 28th and Broadway in Louisville. 1914 reorganized everything under the Sunny Brook name run by two Rosenfields. 1917 another Rosenfield acquired the whole shebang and Sunny Brook sold as medicinal whiskey during prohibition. 1933 Sunny Brook became a part of American Medical Spirits, and later National Distillers. Sunny Brook was distilled in St Louis for some time, and the name is now owned by Jim Beam. You know, we see all this chuckin' and jivin' corporations are doing these days and the backroom shuffle of lawyers, accountants and politicians. But it's not a new phenomenon, it's just blatant now because nobody can stop them except the voters.
