Do it your way

It sounds good in theory, why is it so difficult?

Yup, assholes. And finding new jobs. Or the money to go to school to qualify for a dream job. Or the money to finance building your own dream job. Pretty much everything on that list, sadly, will cost a fortune and/or get you punched (a lot).

Turned out for me all I had to do to find the right partner was listen to my vomeronasal a/k/a Jacobsen's organ. In snakes it's very famous as it's located on the roof of their mouth and is how they can use their forked tongue to not only locate the scent trail of possible prey but tell which way it went. In humans it's much less powerful, but we do have it. The openings are located on the septum of the nose, and our brains will still process pheromones even if we're not really told clearly what information is gained.

I walked into a room at a party and found myself instantly, mysteriously fascinated by someone I'd usually never have given a second look. Having just read a very good little book about the human vomeronasal organ, I decided it must be worth my while to find out what was so freakin' interesting about a quiet introvert chillin' with his date (who I knew, and knew was in a highly successful open relationship).

We will celebrate 13 years together in July.

If you ever walk into a room and instantly hate someone, it's probably pheromonal. Same with instant fascination. Same with wildly overreacting to certain stimuli, like a friend I had who would completely lose his mind and self-control in response to the presence of fresh blood in his airspace--and he didn't have to see it to respond.

I rarely aspire to inspire myself, but that's mostly about not being comfortable around people offline. That said, my greatest passion is zoological & geological research, closely followed by photography. How about y'all?

Gadzooks. What does this zoological and geological research entail? Do you read about stuff or do you go out collecting soil samples and lizard-watching and whatnot?
