The West Coast Trail

I've spent some time last weekend evaluating and indexing my pictures from the West Coast Trail (a 76 mile hike along the west coast of Vancouver Island).

I have uploaded some of the best of the pictures that I took to atypedigital, here: http://koby.atypedigital.com/symbol/wct.

They're still in 1200x960 resolution. Here is one of the lesser pictures, in 480x640.

I can't entirely remember which creek I took this picture on, but I suspect that it was Sandstone Creek. I became confused and hiked along a decommissioned path, which is why the bridge is above the waterfall and I am below it.

Wow! not only are the pictures phenomenal, the titles are beautifully poetic in several cases. Hard to say which one I liked best. Leading candidates as of this moment are morning sunrise and eerie forest.

We concur! I can't decide whether I like the landscape version of the eerie red forest, or the portrait version.

Since 1200x960 isn't quite optimal for web viewing, I copied the pictures and resized them (hurray for mogrify!) here: http://koby.atypedigital.com/symbobl/wctsm

Blog Pictures...

I was poking through your directory and found a picture I adore. I was wondering if you would be interested in allowing me to use it as a graphic on my blog?

It's the"Deep-Mist" picture.

You're one talented photog!

Very nice work, Torr! No blair witch here; just Mulder and Scully.

Oh...BTW...the sun coming through the misty trees picture is now my desktop. *Excellent* photograph. I really envy the hike you took. It would have killed me, but it would have been worth it.

Dagney: Feel free! And thank you for the honor. =]

It was a fantastic hike, and we met some really cool people along the trail.

At Camper Bay, I joined some Hongcouverians who were making a /huge/ fire. Their burner had broken down, so they were using coals from the fire to heat their dinner. I lodged several large stones in the fire, then took them out a while later to make a steaming footbath (using a bit of runoff from a cliff for water).

We packed all of our food in and out; except for two places: at the Nitinat River, the native who ferried us across the river also treated us to crab (he killed them and removed their shells there, fed the shells to the salmon minnows beneath the dock, and fed the salmon to the crab at an upstream bend in the river.)

There was also a hamburger stand on the beach about halfway through the hike. (This was not your typical hamburger stand).
