WW II Japanese subs found
NEW YORK, June 14 (Kyodo) — After being scuttled more than 58 years ago, a fleet of the Imperial Japanese Navy’s 24 submarines —the largest collection ever — were discovered in April off the coast of Nagasaki, a U.S. researcher said Monday.
“The area surveyed contained the remains of 24 submarines, the largest collection of sunken submarines in the world,” William Bryant, professor of oceanography at Texas A&M University and leader of the mission to pinpoint their exact location, told Kyodo News.
