Show Off Your Fish Here!

We've got a dog thread. We've got a cat thread. Why not a fish thread?

Here's my two Oscars. Both approximately 7.5" long, and still growing, I fear. They live in a 30 gallon tall tank along with 3 pink convict cichlids (who haven't grown a centimeter since I put the Oscars in when the Oscars were about the same 2" length as they are). This pair go through a dozen small feeder comets in about three minutes, but they aren't real picky about what they eat, so I feed them dried krill, four or five different varieties of ciclid pellets, flake, frozen shrimp and/or frozen krill in a nonspecific rotation.

They are voracious eaters, but the Tiger Oscar (the one that isn't mostly orange) is actually eating right from my fingers. The orange guy would take my finger off, given the chance. He is by far the more aggressive of the two.

Cool fish, Els! As a pisces I know my fish!

I guess it would be inappropriate to use the smilie, but we don't have any fishy ones, so will have to do.

Anytime that smiley is used (most notably in wolf's signature) my stepson points at the screen and screams "A clue! A clue!"

Okay, the clownfish is named Nemo, which makes sense...but what is that gorgeous anemone's name?

I can only wish I had the time, money and space for a marine aquarium.

i don't really have a name for it. maybe "nemo's hutch"? marine isn't so hard. the worst part is buying all of the filtration. i have a 41 gal. with a UV sterilizer, a canister filter, protein skimmer, 2 circ. pumps dual head lighting of which one bulb is actinic and the other a 10,000 kelvin high-intensity daylight lamp. lessee, what else....yeah, that's it. the canister filter however is oversized for the tank which makes the cleanings a little less frequent. the hard part about them is getting them setup and getting the bacteria down right. i lost soooo many fish because the water wasn't "setup" yet. granted my tank used to look great. but i've neglected it over the last 3 years b/c of either depression or money for upkeep or both. anyway, i'll post some pics from when it was in it's "prime"

My parent's fish. Some of them are now gone; a heron (or some such wading bird) came by to visit the sushi bar.

I don't have the details on that particular incident, but if I see her I can ask. I do know that she always makes a point of praising his Law and Order appearance (remember the retarded kid who freaks out in the holding cell and then dies in Chris Noth's arms? That was Steve) and never, ever mentioning "that show".

Well, Els, you've got some nice fish there. I'll share too.

Meet Igor. Igor and Beegor.

Igor and Beegor are Violet Gobies, sometimes called Dragonfish. They're about a foot long and about an inch in diameter.
