Movies Can be Life Changing Experiences

THe somewhat unusual tale of 50 Shekel, A Rapper.

You know, I didn't get that out of The Passion of The Christ. In fact, I'm pretty puzzled at why that particular 2.5 hour extreme bondage film would make anyone convert to anything.

It isn't so much surprising that a movie can change a person's life. I find it strange, though.

I still haven't brought myself to watch it...i think I am scared, more than anything. Of what? I am not sure.

i'm not one of those people that dragged people to the theater to watch the movie. i did watch it, and i did find value in it.

if you are a non-christian and find no truth and don't believe the story of Christ then seeing the movie serves no purpose.
if you do find truth in the story of Christ then you may find value in the movie, not as entertainment, but as a reminder. too many reduce the crucifixion to a neat, artistic view of Jesus on the cross, and leave it at that. the movie serves to remind one of what a real crucixion looked, sounded, and felt like. nothing pretty or artistic about it.

no, probably of losing 2 hours of time I could have been doing something more interesting or productive.

Okay, the brutal violence doesn't appeal much, either.

Rent the de-brutilized version.

I came away with sense of The Christ as Shaman that I found very intriguing.

And it is a very good movie.

Christ as Shaman, Christ as teacher, Christ as man involved in something that spirals out of control beyond his wildest imaginings...these I can buy.

I've no doubt that Christ existed. Most mythology has some foundation in fact. I just think it kind of got embellished beyond all reason.
