Most states have a law that says if you have greater than 6 inches of crack showing you can be pulled over. So unless yer ho has more than 5 inches of crack, don't show the PoPo. Both those pics are showing more than 6 inches of crack, and you are going to jail!

you're all so damn funny.
That is a widowmaker. The top third of that tree fell over and hung up in the branches of its neighbor. I spent some time last weekend disarming it. I tried first to use a weight on a fishing line over the base of the horizontal part as a leader for a heavier line. Too weak. In my frustration, I wound up putting a potato sized rock in my garden glove and tying it to the line. I heaved the line (a extension cord, if you must know) over the base, eeeeaaaaased it down until I had both ends in hand and then walked the ends as far away as I could. When I was out of line I pulled it off that tall, tall stump. It worked (it worked my way that is, no widows were made). In fact I dropped it exactly where I wanted it, on the vacant lot side of the fence, and nobody got hurt. |

I took down a small widow maker one time. It was basically a pole with one limb leaning out. Not too huge. Maybe 8 inches in diameter at the trunk. As I was cutting it, the vibrations made the limb break off, and it landed on a nearby roof. The vertical part shuddered when the limb came off, and it just sort of collapsed and fell straight down right next to me. Just missed me. Nobody got hurt and the roof wasn't even damaged. It scared me though and I'm MUCH more careful when I try to do anything with a dead tree, which is rare. I was young and stupid. |
