They're very cute, Maine. Recent pictures?

Maine, they're adorable. All of them. You must have been so heartbroken with the first. Every dog owner's nightmare.

Love the pic of the two pups sleeping together. Beautiful.

@ UT: I think that's now my favorite pic of Pearl.

Lovely pics of dogs!
And I mean it.

I prefer them as puppies and I prefer them small (as long as they're not bitey)
Pearl has a place in my heart as a Cellar Dog anyway.

No cat update pics from me as Diz is being a Bit of a Shit right now.

He knocked over his food maze last night and this morning.
Which means 8 hours food on the floor and he managed to gobble it up in minutes.
Which means he is waowing and clambering about to remind me it is time for his night-time feed.
Which means I have had to vacate the bedroom and come back here because he's not getting anything until 22.00!

I think it's coincidence and accident.
If not I will have to revisit how I feed him.

Good news - my sister gently suggested to Mum today that Diz was losing weight.
She was worried he might be ill.
I wish I'd heard the conversation - Law trying to be delicate to the person who always worries about my cat being a fat knacker :)

He has lost weight and it's been a slog and I am VERY pleased it's noticeable.
He was getting fat because I was too indulgent.
And he is a smart kitteh when it comes to food (aka greedy fat pig, like me) so he got more than I condoned.

I'm considering a pup...

It wouldn't be ready for bringing home until 7th March...and I would need to do a trip to Guernsey to see him...and before that can happen the dam's breeder is being given first choice on the litter, and will assess for show prospects. But, given that he has a little spray of white hairs below and separate from his white collie collar markings, it's unlikely he'd be selected as a show prospect.

So...up in the air a bit. On both sides, because I'm still looking out for new litters between now and the 26th of Jan when the breeder who is assessing the litter has made her choice.

I feel a bit weird. Good and bad. Excited, scared, sad, happy etc.

I'm excited for you Dana! And for us. Just think of all the pics you'll be posting. :)

Oh Dana! That is exciting! And I quite understand the mixed feelings!
Here is a pic of Jasper keeping an ear out in case anyone finds him!

Ok...here's a couple of pics of the puppy I am going to see (probably this weekend): In the first pic he's the one at the bottom with his back to us, and the little spray of white fur just below his white collar.

DanaC 01-23-2012 08:03 AM

I think they're a little over 3 weeks old in those pics.

Apparently he's quite cheeky and has been attempting (almost successfully) to climb out of the whelping tray.

Picking up a new puppy, holding it close, and smelling it's puppy-breath
...one of the best experiences in life

DanaC 01-23-2012 08:46 AM

Ohhell yeah.

And that sweet, slightly burnt, sawdusty smell at the back of their ears :p

That stayed right through with Pil. Justbehind his ears, he smelt the same as when he was a pup.

Dana's post about a puppy got me to thinking of the past 3 years with Vicky.

Now she is a full grown Lab (94 lb) that sleeps 23/24, but is ready to go all day long... if that's what we want to do.
If/when awake, she's full curiosity, lives for water and protects
our property from raccoons, squirrels and the ever-present invisible man.

Here she is a 7 weeks, 1-, 2-, and 3- years

DanaC 01-23-2012 02:39 PM

Awwwwww.

Now there's a nose just abeggin to be kissed.

Sundae 01-23-2012 02:45 PM

Ah Dani, even I'm not immune.
'Ccepting I know how they grow up...

Lamp, what a lovely sleek dog.
I'm used to seeing fat Labs (sadly).
Any trouble with her hips? I've known a number of chocolate Labs with problems there.
