J told me once it made him think of me. Then as we were in the middle of the break up it seemed to be on every radio play list. Its on my list of songs I still can't listen to without filling up. This and Radiohead's No Surpsies are atthe top of that little list.

Aqualung: Strange and Beautiful.

I've been watching your world from afar,
I've been trying to be where you are,
And I've been secretly falling apart,
I'll see.
To me, you're strange and you're beautiful,
You'd be so perfect with me but you just can't see,
You turn every head but you don't see me.

I'll put a spell on you,
You'll fall asleep and I'll put a spell on you.
And when I wake you,
I'll be the first thing you see,
And you'll realise that you love me.

Yeah...
Yeah...

Sometimes, the last thing you want comes in first,
Sometimes, the frist thing you want never comes,
And I know, the waiting is all you can do,
Sometimes...

I'll put a spell on you,
You'll fall asleep,
I'll put a spell on you,
And when I wake you,
I'll be the first thing you see,
And you'll realise that you love me.

I'll put a spell on you,
You'll fall asleep 'cos I'll put a spell on you,
And when I wake you,
I'll be the first thing you see,
And you'll realise that you love me, yeah...

yeah...
yeah...
yeah...
yeah...

Well, *there's* something new under the sun. A Jethro Tull track I don't know.

DanaC 11-01-2007 06:23 PM

It's not from the Aqualung album, it's from the band Aqualung:)

BigV 11-01-2007 10:05 PM

Well, I'll be dipped.

I **swear** it said Jethro Tull. Of course, it does not. I feel better for not having missed a track but I feel worse for having forgotten how to read. /oldfart

What precedes these lines can be, I think, taken as read. It's all magnificent. The very last choral lines of the Ode an die Freude:

"Seid umschlungen,
Goetterfunken, Goetter-funken!"
[Prestissimo]

Seven Years

Obviously chicky - but, woke me up from misery after a breakup that was long overdue. :eek:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
How did I love you?
There was no measuring
Far above this dirty world
Far above everything
In your tower over it
You were clean
So warm and insightful
Were you in my eyes
I was sure the rightful
Guardian of my life
Damn you betrayer
How you lied
But for seven years
You were loved
I laid golden orchid crowns
Around your feet
For seven years
I bowed down
To touch the ground
So wholly your devotee
You were
All that I could see
I've got my sight now
I see everything you hid
So don't you try to right now
All the wrong you did
I might forget you
But not forgive
But for seven years
You were loved
I laid golden orchid crowns
Around your feet
For seven years
I bowed down
To touch the ground
So wholly your devotee
For seven years
You were so revered
I made offerings of
Anything and everything I had
You were
All that I could see
Old 97's
The Empty Bottle was half empty, tide was low, and I was thirsty.
Saw her sitting at the bar, you know how some girls are,
Always making eyes, well she wasn't making eyes.
So I sidled up beside her, settled down and shouted, "Hi there."
"My name's Stewart Ransom Miller, I'm a serial lady-killer."
She said, "I'm already dead," that's exactly what she said.
So we tripped the lights fantastic, we was both made of elastic.
Midnight came and midnight went, and I thought I was the President.
She said, "Do you have a car," and I said, "Do I have a car?"
What's so great about the Barrier Reef?
What's so fine about art?
What's so good about a Good Times Van,
When you're working on a broken,
Working on a broken,
Working on a broken man?
When you're working on a broken,
Working on a broken,
Working on a broken man?
My heart wasn't in it, not for one single minute.
I went through the motions with her. Her on top, and me on liquor.
Didn't do no good, well I didn't think it would.
What's so great about the Barrier Reef?
What's so fine about art?
What's so good about a Good Times Van,
When you're working on a broken,
Working on a broken,
Working on a broken man?
A Woman's Love -- Alan Jackson (Dedicated to Tink)
I have felt it,
And I have held it,
I have known,
A woman's love.
I have tasted,
And I have wasted,
A woman's love.
(chorus)
And I know,
I know I'll never understand,
All the little things that make it grand,
A woman's love.
And I know,
I know I'll never come face to face,
With anything that takes the place,
Of a woman's love.
Well I have kissed it,
Tried to resist it,
I have missed,
A woman's love.
And I have hated,
Taken for granted,
A woman's love.
(chorus)
And I know,
I know I'll never understand,
All the little things that make it grand,
A woman's love.
And I know,
I know I'll never come face to face,
With anything that takes the place,
Of a woman's love.
Well I have needed,
And I have pleaded,
And I have lost,
A woman's love.
And I have worshiped,
And I have cursed it,
A woman's love.
(chorus)
And I know,
I know I'll never understand,
All the little things that make it grand,
A woman's love.
And I know,
I know I'll never come face to face,
With anything that takes the place,
Of a woman's love.
What would you take the meaning to be?
Quote:
And on a mission over China
The lady opens up her arms
The flowers bloom where you haved placed them
And the lady smiles, just like mom
BigV 02-07-2008 01:45 PM
Boom!
Flint 02-07-2008 01:52 PM
That might be obvious, but for years I thought this was a description of someone's father having an affair, overseas while in the military, and this mysterious lady becomes pregnant (the flowers bloom where you have placed them).
Of course, they go on to say:
Quote:
Angels wings are icing over
McDonnell-Douglas olive drab
They bear the names of our sweethearts
And the captain smiles, as we crash
I guess I just picked out the first part and formed this strange romantic image of the author imagining his father with some other woman, who smiles just like mom, and raises some mysterious sibling somewhere far away. It's something I always heard about happening.
Yes We Can (Barak Obama Song)
Yes We Can (Barack Obama Song) -- Will.I.Am
It was a creed written into the founding documents that declared the destiny of a nation.
Yes we can.
It was whispered by slaves and abolitionists as they blazed a trail toward freedom.
Yes we can. Yes we can.
It was sung by immigrants as they struck out from distant shores
and pioneers who pushed westward against an unforgiving wilderness.
Yes we can. Yes we can.
It was the call of workers who organized;
women who reached for the ballots;
a President who chose the moon as our new frontier;
and a King who took us to the mountain-top and pointed the way to the Promised Land.
Yes we can to justice and equality.
(yes we can, yes we can, yes we can, yes we can...)
Yes we can to opportunity and prosperity.
Yes we can to opportunity and prosperity.
Yes we can heal this nation.
Yes we can repair this world.
Yes we can. Si Se Puede
(yes we can, yes we can, yes we can, yes we can...)
We know the battle ahead will be long,
but always remember that no matter what obstacles stand in our way,
nothing can stand in the way of the power of millions of voices calling for change.
We want change!
(We want change! We want change! We want change...)
We have been told we cannot do this by a chorus of cynics who will only grow louder and more dissonant.
We've been asked to pause for a reality check.
We've been warned against offering the people of this nation false hope.
But in the unlikely story that is America, there has never been anything false about hope. We want change!
(We want change! I want change! We want change! I want change...)
The hopes of the little girl who goes to a crumbling school in Dillon are the same as the dreams of the boy who learns on the streets of LA;
we will remember that there is something happening in America;
that we are not as divided as our politics suggests;
that we are one people;
we are one nation;
and together, we will begin the next great chapter in America's story with three words that will ring from coast to coast;
from sea to shining sea - Yes. We. Can.
(yes we can, yes we can, yes we can, yes we can, yes we can, yes we can, yes we can, yes we can...)
Uriah Heep
And if its bad
Dont let it get you down
You can take it
And if it hurts
Dont let them see you cry
You can make it
Just hold your head up woman
Hold your head up woman
Hold your head up woman
Hold your head high
Hold your head up woman
Hold your head up woman
Hold your head up woman
Hold your head high
And if they stare, just let them
Burn their eyes on you moving
And if they shout, dont let it change
A thing that youre doing
Hold your head up ...
I think I saw a video or something about this somewhere.
these are interesting.
I've had one desire since I was born
To see my body ripped and torn
To see my flesh devoured before my eyes
I'm here for you I volunteer as a human sacrifice
[CHORUS]
Carve me up, slice me apart
Suck my guts, lick my heart
Chop me up I like to be hurt
Drink my marrow and blood for dessert
EATEN... My one desire, my only wish is to be--
EATEN... The longer I live the more I'm dying to feel the pain
EATEN... I would do anything to be--
EATEN... My one desire, my only wish is to be--
EATEN...
I finally found you, my personal slaughter
As an appetizer, I let you taste my daughter
Call me sick but this is what I need
My only purpose here is for you to feed
Desecrate me
Tear me limb from limb
Eviscerate me
Chew me to death
