Tyrael 07-03-2005 01:20 AM

Someone throw me a hint

Someone toss me something on that 6th light... I'm not much for noting the obvious. This has been driving me nuts since October...

Kagen4o4 07-03-2005 07:02 PM

Floatyhead 07-04-2005 10:32 PM

Is there anything at the moment that's significant about the HypericumPerforatum page?

crazypeoplethink 07-05-2005 02:36 PM

I think we kinda gave up on that, there's a few pages after it though

lust 07-05-2005 05:46 PM

does anyone acually kno the end of the passwords or wat the end is???

Kagen4o4 07-05-2005 07:29 PM

no, no one affiliated with the official forum knows. unless someone working alone just went through and got it all then no.

Magius 07-05-2005 09:45 PM

I doubt that. TINP didn't even finish building it, unless it has been done recently.

The maker of TINP, while watching us get past the final light, said only something along the lines of: 'I've got a really great ending planned out.'

Floatyhead 07-07-2005 06:40 PM

I was talking to Kris through email a while ago and he sent me a strange picture of someone behind an Egyptian pharoah masy, and there were strange swirling lights around him, but my stupid accout purged and deleted it.

Any new breakthroughs yet, anyone?

sjzboy 07-08-2005 03:17 PM

could u please try to solve this? It is not all tect..there a phrase arround there ...

wheres it from? and no

discordant_harmony 07-12-2005 09:03 PM

Ok, ok, let's get over the whole "newbie" thing right now. I've gotten as far as y'all, to the ShovelThatGoodSnow page and I've read since page one.

First of all, does anyone know if there is an online version of DDD? And should I read WSC first?

It seems like we have given up on decoding the two strings of text. Does anyone have any fresh ideas for keys?

FallORFly 07-13-2005 12:33 AM

MY NEW SITE

I have figured out all the lights, pm or email me for the hints, CHECK OUT MY NEW TINP MOCK UP SITE!!! www.freewebs.com/Elddir !

FallORFly 07-13-2005 12:56 AM

OOPs..

seems like my site is picky, the url is www.freewebs.com/elddir just check it out, i think you will be impressed...

discordant_harmony 07-13-2005 03:55 AM

Yeah, we on here have through all 6 lights, and are trying to figure out how to go to the next page, since it is not a un/pw one. We (or I should say they) are decoding the barcodes and the strings of letters.

And I tried your site, I got to the second page so far...

Edit: i've now gotten to the next one....it's a nice asuurance that i CAN do some of these things...

You don't need to read WSC first. I read DDD first, then WSC; order doesnt matter (and it doesn't matter if you read WSC). Here is DDD online
I have given up on keys. I tried guessing all the obvious ones, but it became too frustrating due to lack of clues.

Thanks, I'm trying to give people more ideas and exprience so that they will think more openly on TINP.com . Tell your friends...

discordant_harmony 07-14-2005 04:09 PM

Thanks Duey

I'm sure that the key is very obvious, but we aren't thinking simply enough, we are trying to make it too complicated...

On the very opening page (with the oven, Something is Coming), the status bar says Cut and Cut and Cut, I don't remember that ever coming up in anything. Did it?

Also, isn't dropping your axe a euphamism for dying? Richard Manuel hanged himself in a motel room in Winter Park, Florida...Vigenere died of throat cancer. Does anyone know where he is buried?

cut and cut and cut was a clue for the gordian knot i thought.

i tried "winter park" and "florida" as a key and no luck

discordant_harmony 07-14-2005 11:23 PM

Oops, I forgot about that...

dang it, I thought I was onto something there....where is Vigenere buried?

Edit: IDEA! Since each of the lights seem to represent a death in DDD and the 6th is the empty coffin, the protagonist's, where did he die? Or did he? I haven't finished yet.

Also, I find it interesting that on TINP, Vigenere is spelled w/o the e after the g. Random thing, but I might as well say it.

Hajik 07-15-2005 12:48 AM

I doubt anyone would do this for me, but it would be supremely awesome if someone could just PM me with a quick run down on what's happening. TINP interests me a lot and I'd like to help you all on whatever needs to be done.

discordant_harmony where did you get those names?

Richard Manuel was with The Band, and sang (perhaps also wrote? can't recall and can't be arsed to look it up at the moment) one of the songs whose lyrics appear in a Javascript popup on Vig.htm and Near.htm.

Vigenere is the name of the man whose portrait appears in the source code of Near.htm; he's commonly attributed with creating poly-alphabetic ciphers. He didn't; rather, he created a new, nearly unbreakable version of them (see Wikipedia for more). Chances are that the strings of gibberish in the source code of the /6/*.htm pages are encoded with a Vigenere-style key.

Kagen4o4 07-15-2005 10:41 PM

richard manuel wrote lonesome suzie and is in "The Band"

xmortalityx 07-16-2005 05:24 AM

After finally getting the un/pw to Audition, Ive noticed that after you click on the tree, and then the window in the house, that the words in the top right corner read "3sv8v wtw sv w8lk sr7 z2v. 4rumv8v"

Yes, We have already decoded that.
Here is the code if you want to figure it out yourself :
ABCDEFGHIJklm <--- this line corresponds to both of those below
zyxwvutsrqpon <--- this line corresponds to the letters above or numbers below it
0123456789 <------ this line decrypts as the lower-case letters, and encrypts as the capitalized ones.

Or heres the answer (highlight it): Where did he drop his axe, Vignere?

discordant_harmony 07-16-2005 09:50 PM

That missing e is still bugging me....I went back and looked. There is also that extra m in a barcode. Are there any more things like that?

SilverPhoenix 07-16-2005 11:36 PM

Quite a fw. MMost of them are simple typos; I'm not sure we've found any that are more than that, but there might be a couple that were significant and we didn't notice at the time.

Hajik 07-18-2005 02:15 AM

http://www.unfiction.com/dev/tutorial/
http://www.unfiction.com/resource/otools/

Too awesome links with a bunch of decrytping junk on them, I hope it helps some.

SilverPhoenix 07-18-2005 12:53 PM

The fuzzy barcode has been figured out (at last :). It reads "Another corpse does a 350-40." and is here: http://img259.imageshack.us/my.php?i...ldecode9ay.gif if you'd like to see for yourself.

So. We have "[does a] 350-40", and "to 639 by 59". 'Another corpse', interestingly, only appears in Dance at the beginning of chapter 40 (though it's page 360, rather than 350).

Stuckey 07-22-2005 01:53 AM

are you guys still talking about thisisnotporn.com?

if you are, then could you help me with the sign on the tree?

whatalovelydrapetheymake

xmortalityx 07-22-2005 02:00 AM

if you read back through the pages (like most of us did), you cold probably find most of the answers

Stuckey 07-22-2005 02:05 AM

...there are 55 pages....but ok

although, from reading the first few pages, someone said that they got by this one fairly quickly

Stuckey 07-22-2005 02:32 AM

well, i got the sign one, and then the building one was incredibly easy, but this new one looks hard

EliteAssasin 07-22-2005 01:39 PM

my account for the TINP Forums got suspended for 4 days,so hello you guys

elGatorade 07-22-2005 07:49 PM

I found this puzzle the other day via this http://www.thisisnotporn.com/ad.jpg but I also have met Boruff before, as that is my girlfriend in the picture. I can't figure anything out. So I guess meeting has really put me at an advantage. I mean in terms of figuring out the puzzle, no offence to Boruff.

Heh, somebody either at the official forums or here mentioned seeing your girlfriend (on campus maybe?) and recognizing her from the t-shirt ad picture, but he didn't ask her about it.

I have a feeling we're not trying to get past the 6th light, but rather, we're trying to get past the lights page as a whole. We just needed to unlock each of the lights to gain enough clues... This is a theory anyway. There's probably some all-encompasing theme within each of these pages, and we have to find it.

He brings up a good idea. Maybe the sixth light isn't just another light like the last ones. But it's a link to the next area of sorts. So maybe thinking in this kind of mindset will help us to get past it.

discordant_harmony 07-23-2005 01:47 AM

Yeah, it seems that the next page is like the IJsselmeer one, where we have to type in a url, maybe the lights don't really have an order, or at least as much emphasis as we are putting on it.

As I asked before, is dropping your axe a euphemism for dying?

Hajik 07-23-2005 03:11 AM

As far as dropping the axe thing. I'd use it as that. I've also heard it mean "playing a guitar solo" and some other things. I hope that helps.

Kagen4o4 07-23-2005 04:28 AM

common themes
-light-darkness
-walls closing in
-DDD (only for the lights pages so far, and the entry into the "dolphin hotel")

DDD includes, death, skeletons etc.

there have been other things in there like frankenstein, wizard of oz and metamorphosis etc

EliteAssasin 07-23-2005 12:22 PM

The 6th Light could be activated when people solve the meaning behind all the lights,so maybe after we figure out the Sun and Death Travel Togther,TINP Will activate the last light.

Damn i need some coffee :coffee:

xmortalityx 07-25-2005 11:54 AM

Maybe, and I'm just going in a whim here, but arent there a couple of links missing letters or have them replaced by a number? (My Eyes Are Burning Hel, A Moth Flew Into The Room When I Di4d) What if we put all the missing or replaced letters together and then put that as a link? That was just an idea i got from reading your ideas

crazypeoplethink 07-25-2005 03:11 PM

That's possible, but for the "My eyes are burning Hel' Hel is a mythological character. Norse Mythology I believe.

XRedBlazeX 07-25-2005 04:30 PM

Yes, Hel is the goddess or something or other... I don't think we ever decided whether or not it was Hel or hell though.

EliteAssasin 07-25-2005 06:28 PM

but what do all our ideas have in common?
what do we use to try and solve this?
maybe if we find the common idea or something,we can a clearer image of how to solve it.

Just a little theory that came out of my ass:P

Hajik 07-25-2005 11:42 PM

I think the first thing we could do is compile a list of little things like that, and see what common ideas run through it.

xmortalityx 07-26-2005 01:45 AM

it could also be Help

On Another note, I looked up the source on The "A Perfectly Common Accident." page and I found this mummble-Jumble: aadbre odndl Ihxbit ntwl ehte seh nhtw ntthnn wrewpcthl n tctap slnnb heed te letw ntttodpt

Kagen4o4 07-26-2005 06:40 AM

this has all been found

Damn. I should really start backtracking to see what has been found -_-

havent a few already been made? or were they just site maps?

crazypeoplethink 07-27-2005 05:49 PM

they were just site maps, as far as I know.

EliteAssasin 07-29-2005 01:10 PM

DavidM thinks Notpr0n brings people togther

WTF

it brings like hackers and jerks togther and then they post all the answers all over the internet like it was Butter.

then "Loyal" PLayers,no such thing any more, they slip answers to people sometimes

marichiko 07-29-2005 10:32 PM

So, how'd you guys end up discussing all this stuff on the Cellar, anyhow? Do you do anything besides try to solve the game? Do you ever read any of the other forums here? Do you feel wierd being this sort of little sub-cult here that regular members of the cellar hardly ever talk to? How come you don't create your very own seperate "This is not porn" discussion site?

Just wondering, and no I don't have a clue.

Kagen4o4 07-29-2005 11:54 PM

i dont even use or know of any other topics in the cellar. i just use it for TINP, this and the official forum are really the only 2 worth looking at on the subject. if you google most things from TINP you get a link to this thread. theres something like 1100 posts on this now?
