Not my pet's, but Mrs G's.
She is a TA who has befriended me at school. She keeps chickens anyway, but this year decided to get some fancier ones, and raise them in school.

Today might be their last school day (Teacher is not all that fond of them, although the children adore them) so I specifically wanted a photo. Unfortunately Mrs G's daughter was sick and she had to go home in the morning.

So I tried valiantly to at least get a photo of a Polish Frizzle for you. But although I am a reasonably adept chicken-wrangler, they are still fairly young and so they squirm. Camera in one hand, wriggly Frizzle in the other. Not only was there camera shake but the crazy fowl would not look at the camera!

My best shots.

She also has two with feathered feet - Brahma Bantams I believe.
One is also definitely a rooster, because they are developing very differently. Shame. He will have to "go back and live on the farm" as we say to the children - she lives in too suburban an area to have a rooster.

And the other is a more normal type of chicken to me, but apparently is also slightly fancy. She's the biggest and will be the best layer, although Frizzles' eggs are blue and so make for an interesting egg-bowl.

Here is a proper Frizzle picture.

You could have him over, you know, for dinner.

Besty's new besty, Annie. Not a good pic, she's fairly uncooperative.

Oh she's a sweetie! Love that bit of merle colouring on her muzzle and front legs.

Sundae, do not put chickens in the tumble drier. Not good.

Gravdigr 05-19-2012 01:46 PM

However you can put them in a washer.

Check out "Janet's WhizBang Chicken Plucker"!

This chicken is dead. And if he ain't, he soon will be!!

Sort of my pet, I rinse and blow dry her every day but Sunday. Sunday is when she gets shampooed. ;) She is checking out the young bull across the gate.
