As a dial-up user for too many years, I always wonder about band-width or upload speeds or whatever.
Dumb question: Are all the GIF's on this page (and the other ones) always running? Do they take up download capacity continually? At what point are they shut off? |
Once you download all the frames, your web browser is in charge of looping it; it doesn't keep downloading. If the browser is clever, it only plays it when you have that tab selected - but that would only affect the speed of the browser, not downloads.
That said, GIFs are one of the worse things for dial-up, as they do download automatically, while most video only downloads when you hit play. |
