First wave missed us. We just got some rain. Yay! :)
Tomorrow we might get 1-6 inches of snow. At this point, that's nothing. |

Statement as of 2:36 PM EST on February 24, 2010
... Winter Storm Warning in effect from 4 am Thursday to 7 am EST Friday... The National Weather Service in Binghamton has issued a Winter Storm Warning for snow... which is in effect from 4 am Thursday to 7 am EST Friday. Steady snow is expected to develop Thursday morning... generally between 7 and 10 am. The heaviest snow should occur during the afternoon and early evening hours... when snowfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour are possible. By the time snow begins to taper off late Thursday night... storm totals of 8 to 12 inches are anticipated... with localized amounts of 12 to 18 inches on the hilltops... and where any heavier bands are able to set up. Important considerations for this storm will be both the heavy wet nature of the snow... and increasing winds late Thursday afternoon and night. Sustained winds should pick up to 15 to 25 mph by early Thursday evening... with gusts of 30 to 35 mph. Scattered power outages... and some tree damage... can be expected. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow means severe winter weather conditions are expected. Significant amounts of snow are forecast that will make travel dangerous. Only travel in an emergency. In addition... heavy wet snow could cause scattered power outages. sweet |
ENOUGH WINTER ALREADY!

You know you've had enough winter when you see this:

Snowed overnight in Scotland. 11,500 people (approx) without power.
Not a sniff of it here. Thank goodness. The 'rents are flying into Gatwick tonight - I don't want them home too late as tomorrow is my first day of school! About the only reason you'll ever hear me not wanting snow. |

We are between storms here on the edge of the desert Southwest. Last night we got about an inch of wet snow. The next storm is scheduled to move in Saturday. I am sick of snow but glad for the moisture. We can always use more precipitation around here.

Felt stupid for having ambulance take me to work yesterday on merely wet roads, then bring me home on mildly slidy ones. Although they did have to pull over and active the 4WD on the Excursion, so I felt a little better.

A few flurries here. And some sunshine. Yay!

Wow, long tractor day. The end of my driveway had 4' of snow in it. While trying to get the tractor far enough up to get above the snow to push down hill my Bro in law and niece walked up the main road. He put his Explorer in the ditch a mile down. I pulled him out and got back to my futility. I gave up and called the BiL to see if his snow blower was operational. That backup one he tried to give me last fall was, its replacement gave up the ghost this morning. On my way over to get it I saw my neighbor's SJ jammed in a snowbank and his plow truck buried beside his driveway. BiL insisted on doing my driveway so I went to the neighbor and pulled out his Toyota and dug out his more reasonable driveway. Everybody got their work done somehow. I've got more to do after OM tomorrow but right now I'm toast.
