Tracy tells us that the photograph is from 1905, which would make this officially the oldest cat picture with a caption, AKA lolcat, that we’ve seen.

But the third column says:

One spaceship has its eye on your salad tongs, and the legless lady cannot jump the traffic cone without a crutch.

The happiest cats on earth.

We saw a show about cats with that guy's house featured in it on Animal Planet the other day. Badger and I looked at each other and agreed to give it some serious consideration for our monsters. :D

ETA: the guy agreed that he had probably spent $50k on the project, and lowered his home's value by $50k as well.

I don't have that kind of space to do something like that but wow would my cats love it! If you proceed, take pics! Oh, and this would be in your new house, right? :)

My parents were going to try something like that but then realized that it would never support the weight of their dogs... and it would have to

Yeah. Maybe something... simple, in the rec room. We'll see where the insanity takes us. ;)

About twenty years ago, my ex and I had this silly ass cat named Pandora. We lived in a place that had a very narrow wall that separated our living room from the kitchen, and the wall terminated at the opening to the kitchen. This left a flat vertical surface about 4" wide, covered with a trim board. I used to do drugs in those days, and it occurred to me that I could make a hell of a cat thing there.

I built a roughly 2.5' long, 1' high, 1' deep box out of flakeboard, cut a hole in the bottom big enough for the cat to get through, and covered the whole thing in carpet remnant. Then, I wrapped carpet remnant around the exposed wall edge, and mounted the carpeted box up against the ceiling. The end result was a very integrated "cat tree"; a large wall area that the cat could literally climb up, and a box for her to enter, sleep in, or whatever. She used to actually climb up there and then *hang* by her front claws from the carpeted bottom of the box, like some goofy furry gymnast.

It was awesome.

I got home and my cats were waiting for me, tapping their little paws impatiently. I asked "wassup" and found that somehow they had seen this pic and wanted to know where their set-up was. Probably one of those rotten punk river cats down the street showed them. My cats are so naive.

I remember that picture of your cat, lj, and then I was thinking how my cats would love a beam like that to jump on.

How does (s)he get up there? (Sorry can't remember cat's name so not sure if it's male or female.)

I want to see more of your house LJ.
