It's a nail, bent, broken, and stuck in my palm nailer. Curse words were used before and after the leatherman finally extracted the offending fragment.

First off, I don't know. I'm hoping somebody has a clue what the contraption is on the ground behind the guys with the gas pump. Looks like it's glass and rigged to be suspended, but why and for what?

beauregaardhooligan 02-19-2019 07:19 AM

Maybe to catch overflow?

xoxoxoBruce 02-19-2019 08:34 AM

I've been informed somebody is pretty sure it's a battery acid jug. Now I wonder if what I thought was a hanging cord is really a hose and that dark spot against the wall next to his leg is a squeeze bulb air pump?

Clodfobble 02-19-2019 08:36 AM

Looks to me like the top of the glass bottle is closed and the narrow bottom has a cap; i.e., it's upside-down. Could be nothing more than a stand for getting the last drops out of half-empty jars of some viscous liquid.

 A hummingbird feeder.

I've had a look around the Google, and the Pinterest, and I've come to the conclusion that I don't have the first clue wtf that thing is.

Popdigr has no clue either.

Mystery solved.

Google is slipping. Pages and pages and pages and pages and pages and pages and pages and pages of results under 'battery acid dispenser' got exactly fucking nothing.

Add the word 'Brookins', solid gold.

Meh, fuckem.

That brand new one the wanted $125 so it could be repurposed.;)
But another item caught my eye and I tried to follow up but the listing was from 2013. :eyebrow: This is going to be a recurring problem because Google never throws anything away.

"Brother", I had every word in the English language in that little box at one time or another.

old vintage handheld glass antique service station gas station battery acid dispenser battery acid jug, I think was the last one.

And every combination thereof.

I well remember having new batteries filled at the parts store, but not that old filler.
I think it was made to be refilled itself by turning upside down and putting in a fresh jug of sulfuric acid, potent stuff best not spilled.
