I watched it for a while, mostly because it is supposed to take place near where I grew up in New Jersey and it was fun to see the same places i used to go.
But for me to like a show, there has to be a character I like that is actually a good person. The Sopranos is all bad guys and gals.

Great acting though.

Melfi is good.

I suppose it would have been better than Charles in Charge.

Same here.

I always catch the good HBO series a couple years later, when they get syndicated on basic cable. For example, I have just now gotten to see what all the hubbub over "Six Feet Under" was about, because they finally got old enough to replay on Bravo.

I was a 6'U fanatic. I watched it religiously from start to finish. The finale was the best episode of television I have ever seen: great writing, great acting. Sometimes silly, sometimes serious.

I caught onto the Sopranos sometime through the first season, then became hooked. I love Adrianna, Christopher, Paulie, Junior...so many characters you love to hate or hate to love!

I guarantee if you start with the first season DVD of either show, and you have any kind of interest in quality TV at all, you will be hooked!

Sopranos and Six Feet Under are great, but the best show on HBO is The Wire. Long-form stories, multiple threads, engaging, realistic characters, and cutting social commentary.

I have to join the Never Watched Club I'm afraid.

Someone else can tell me who I am :)

Haven't seen it either. I think I'm starting to turn into my parents :worried:

I seem to do one HBO series at a time. Oz, certainly, which I liked enough to buy on DVD, and have anxiously awaited each season's release. If I knew enough people that really liked it, I'd have an Oz party, but what would you serve for that? Scalloped potatoes, white bread, and anal lube? So, I'll just pass on the party idea and watch them quietly on my own, in solitary, so to speak.

I also watch Rome, and ended up liking Big Love much more than I expected.

Shawnee123 01-18-2007 12:46 PM

I liked Oz, too.

When I had Showtime I really liked Weeds.

One of, if not the best Series ever. I have the Soprano´s 1-6 on DVD and eagerly awaiting for the 7th Serie to be available on DVD as well. Here in EU everything is showed 1-2 years later, so I purchased it from the US.

It's a phenomen how we got to like sociopaths like Tony, Junior or Paulie, maybe because the series is about people, not about complicated plots.

Madly in love with Adrianna. A heavenly body and a good heart. My heart cried when she got whacked by Silvio.

Besides Tony, I liked Johnny Sack and never seen borderliners like Janice and Livia. The only sane person around seems to be Meadow.

Stopped after season three...

i watched the first series, but felt the same as Sheldonrs : just couldnt get attached to such a bunch of dickheads.
Six Feet Under, on the other hand, was masterful! Again, ive only seen the first series. Should i watch further? sequels, trilogies, etc. seem to do no favours.
