Diet Mountain Dew and Diet Dr. Pepper are my drinks of choice. I drink so fast my stomach turns if I drink the sugared stuff.
I drink so much diet soda I can tell the differences in batches...Anyone remember when they first started doing the Cherry Diet Pepsi and the regular Diet Pepsi had a cherry cough syrup aftertaste? Or was that just an Upstate NY blip? Also, the sweetness of your soda varies from bottler to bottler. Diet Coke and Diet Dew sold between Charles City, VA and Willis United Methodist Church tastes MUCH sweeter than the stuff they sell in Charlottesville, VA two counties away. |
I prefer Pepsi to Coke...not quite as syrupy to me. I prefer Dr Pepper overall though.

I disagree with Bruce when he said Coke doesn't quench thirst, because I think Coke is a great thirst quencher . . . sometimes.
I agree with Glatt because that stuff is no good for you. As a teenager I drank six pack after six pack of Coke . . . and screwed up my front teeth doing it. Eventually had to have them capped. |
diet pepsi is too salty. goes flat like immediately, too.
i like diet coke and captain. really, i do. |
Coca cola is made by elves and pepsi is made by trolls so coke is the superior flavor. :D

Diet Pepsi tastes more like regular Pepsi. Old-line Diet Coke is astringent -- I've accustomed myself to the stuff because the wife is devoted to it.
But at heart I'm either a Blue Coke (Splenda sweetened) or Coke Zero man (also Splenda'd. Not sure of the difference, and Coke Zero is taking over the shelves.) Diet Dr. Pepper is successful in resembling its sugared edition too, as are the soda-fountain variations like Diet Cherry Vanilla Dr. P, et cetera. |
The real question that nobody is asking is, "Why does Coke taste better from a can than from a plastic bottle?"
|
It doesn't.
|
It really does. Surely I can't be the only one who feels this way?
|
Of course you're not the only one... you're just all wrong.

Easy answer: It doesn't. :) |
My favourite is Virgin Caffeine Free Diet Cola
But it isn't sold in my local supermarkets (it may not even be on the market any more) I worked for a field marketing company that did the blind tasting tests in the UK. Trust me, no trickery was involved - when tried at the same time, the majority of people really preferred Pepsi. |
