I figure a mid-teen girl, plucked out of the Orient and dropped in the US, watching TV news, along with the cautions all parents give teen daughters, was probably pretty nervous here. Usually mid-teen girls don't get to do much exploring outside of where they're living and no way to counter the TV news paranoia.
