I fly this flag because I love this country. One of the reasons I love this country is that, at least as of this writing, I can say how fucked it is in how many ways, and no one will come and throw me in prison.
Now, let me try to fly somewhere with a butterknife, and my story might change, but for now, I don't have a problem with patriotism. I have a problem with irrationality in the name of patriotism.

I agree with this post.
I understand that in the UK and a lot of other countries, national flags are not seen the same way we see them here. Just a cultural difference -- in my experience, Americans aren't more or less culturally chauvinistic than Brits, we just express it in different ways. :D But it does annoy me when a British reviewer (and I have seen a few) comments about American flag imagery without seeming to understand or take into account the cultural difference. If you're a professional film reviewer, it's your job to understand the movie in its own context, IMO.
