How big is your gang now? I bet the little ones are a ton of fun!

Griff 07-02-2007 11:58 AM

We're at 5 goats now 3 littles/2 biggies. Nutmeg is quite amusing now, but the others are too small for her to play with for another couple days. Pete has some video to share when she gets time to put it up. She made cheese yesterday mmmm... yum.

Griff -- not including your neighbors, are there any animals around you that might try to eat your goats? Do you have to worry about foxes or bears, for example?

We have a lot of bears. The dogs are tied out by the goat shed at night as a proximity alarm.

As an alarm, or as sacrifice to the Bear gods?

Griff 07-02-2007 03:23 PM

I prefer to think of it as a holding action.

If the dog alarm goes off in the middle of the night, what is your response?

Yea! another lawn mower.

We are jokingly considering getting goats for this purpose, which you could actually get away with in my neighborhood.
Fence the yard in, buy a couple of goats off my uncle, never mow again. Plus, free petting zoo.

yeah, cuz cleaning up goat shit and feeding them is so much more pleasant than mowing is. jokingly, my eye.

Cute, congratulations.

Can't I just get pigs, to eat the goat shit? And then I can eat the pigs? The goats, of course, eat the grass.
