Doesn't hurt the cows? I don't think they can really say that... after all, the cow can't tell them one way or the other. It looks extremely cruel to me. Poor cows. And they don't look very pampered to me... :(

When I had my cows inseminated, I just held them by the halter and got drooled on, while the guy with a rubber glove up to his shoulder, did his thing.
