Add me to the 18/28 list..... but if he hadn't been such an arsehole (and his lodger such a dunce), I wouldn't have met beest, so all's well.....

capnhowdy 03-25-2009 08:22 PM

Ah... yeah. Been there too. 17/27.

Like a rock. Then another rock rolled around.

The world is huge. Try to live in all of it.

Yes, I think she was from Philly, lost custody of her kid, doing drugs?

Ahh, not sure of that ... Its a recent noob, maybe Wickedly Tasteful, Juniper, about that generation. The main story I remember was him ceasing to be house trained and pissing in the bedroom.

Just before Christmas wasn't it?

OK, the one I'm thinking of, or trying to think of, was awhile back.

I appreciate all the concerns. He's a good guy, had a pretty rough upbringing with alcoholics and such. So he doesn't drink or smoke or anything like that, but i was that person. So he helped me to find healthier ways to spend my time. I don't have worries of him taking advantage because I'm a strong person when it comes to those things, I don't let anyone walk over me. And in any other aspect other than sex, i've been the one to dabble in things i shouldn't have.

I'm on the pill, have been on it for years because of hormonal issues. But I'm uber safe about protecting myself. He'll buy them for me too sometimes. I don't like being on them though, and my boyfriend said he would get surgery if that meant I wasn't pumping hormones into myself. I am receptive to everything you say.

Over the few months since I've posted this I've been feeling a lot better. We've been dating for over a year, and I'm not the easiest to deal with sometimes. So if he was just taking advantage, he would have been gone a while ago.

Well. Sounds like things are looking good Mulatto, I'm really pleased for you. These things are always worth a moment's caution, but that doesn't mean the 18/28 equation can't work.

Just...keep checking back with yourself that you are where you want to be. It's easy to lose track when you're young and time moves faster than you think.

Good work Mu.

The amount of hormones that is in the pill is much, much lower than it used to be in the 70s and 80s. They've really refined it down to the lowest levels needed. The pill is actually the same hormones that your body puts off when it's pregnant. Hormones get a bad name, but they're not like steroids, just chemicals your body uses to communicate to itself.

There are other forms of the pill now. There's Depo Provera, which is a shot you get every 3 months. Then it's not a daily hormone, it's a one-time hormone shot. There's a patch, which you reapply weekly and sends a steady level of hormones. There's the NuvaRing, which is a thingie you put up your hoo-ha, where it does the same thing as the patch. There's an IUD which is physically put into your uterus by your GYN and works without hormones at all.

So ask yer GYN! Make it easy for yourself! And don't make any decisions about having a baby for another four years. With a little more experience under your belt, you'll see the world with new eyes. When you're 22, you'll look back on your 18-year-old self, and see an awful lot you didn't see at 18. That's just life!

UT, I know you know everything, but how did you know all that?

Undertoad 04-01-2009 12:02 AM

I've spent the last few months listening to old episodes of the "Loveline" radio show, with Adam Carolla and Dr. Drew.

ZenGum 04-01-2009 12:28 AM

Now I really really really really hope you get that sysadmin job. ;)
