Are other seed/nut butters even known in the UK?

Nope!
At least not as anything apart from Marge (aka Spread in my house).
Certainly nothing considered a specific flavour.

We're familiar with the other nut butters because my stepson is allergic to peanuts. Cashew butter is okay... but soy nut butter is foul and beyond disgusting.

I think it's hard for some Americans to imagine just how unimportant peanut butter is as part of the diet over there. Soynut butter and the like are just like peanut butter -gritty and brow, It's a paste -the "butter" is misleading -they are all non-dairy and are not butter substitutes.

It's about as common in the Brit diet as Lime Marmalade is here.

Fortunately, the peanut butter Goo-Goo candy I picked up in the Dollar store may kill me with cholesterol, but not Botulism. It says so right here.

For all of you Europeans and Yankees, Goo-Goo clusters, along with Moon Pies, are foods from the southern United States.

I can sometimes find them here in PA in the dollar stores.

Peanut butter in the UK sucks balls. It bears little-no resemblance to actual, American, that is, peanut butter. I'd rather eat wallpaper paste than any variety of UK peanut butter. Okay, I'm not sure there's any difference. Bring on the adhesive!

Technically, ASDA Organic peanut butter is pretty decent. But at £2+ it's just not worth it for enough peanut butter for a half-dozen sandwiches.

exactly. it's a weird (=nasty) "luxury" item

Speaking of peanut butter and balls, how does this affect lonely men who own mid to large size dogs?

monster 01-30-2009 07:53 AM

depends how many dogs they have, and how much they enjoy cleaning up doggie diahorrea (or however the hell you spell that in which ever country you're in)

Cliff bars were a big one hit by all this stuff. I trashed a whole box of them yesterday.
