Elverson

Quote:

Elverson is a borough in Chester County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 959 at the 2000 census.
Settled near the region's early iron mines, Elverson is close by Hopewell Furnace National Historic Site; an example of a 19th century iron plantation,.

//
[edit] History

Elverson's earliest settlers arrived in the late 18th century when the area was known as Springfield. Later dubbed Blue Rock it remained largely rural until the arrival of the Wilmington and Northern Railroad in 1870. By 1883, the town's population had more than doubled. The Borough of Elverson was officially incorporated on April 17, 1911 from land annexed from West Nantmeal Township and it remained the commercial center of northwestern Chester County through the first half of the 20th century. In 1953 the borough annexed additional land resulting in its current size of about one square mile.
Elverson's building styles follow the periods of its commercial growth and range from early 19th century stone or log buildings to post-railroad Queen Anne structures and 20th century craftsman and Foursquare style houses. Commercial and residential development since the 1950s has occurred largely on the outskirts of the borough's historic center.

Nothing too exciting about the town I live in, except maybe for the tornado that tore through here last year. It was huge and devastated the area.

When we lived in KS, the closest was this town.

Notable residents, I haven't made the list yet but "Dr Robert Felkin, medical missionary and explorer, ceremonial magician and member of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn." is an interesting guy, when you're the son of a non conformist lace manufacturer, I guess the only way to go is out.

Wichita, by Jayhawks.
I love this song.

Quote:

come to Wichita
won't be there in forty days
this is an evil land
brings a devil's cloud
take a message
to abide in what you own
and there'll be no more
no more people singing

la la la
in one morning you will be mine
where the fields are smiling
no more people singing
la la la
in one morning you will be mine
where the fields are smiling
where the fields are smiling

there by crook and fire
and the squatter's rights
don't your cheek get sore
and your mouth get dry
sevens on your sleeve
haven't counted days
then he slouches home
to your loved ones gates

la la la
in one morning you will be mine
where the fields are smiling
no more people singing
la la la
in one morning you will be mine
where the fields are smiling
where the fields are smiling

with my pockets torn
by a whirlwind
man takes what it needs
turns you inside out
come to Wichita
won't be there in forty days
this is an evil land
brings a devil's cloud

la la la
in one morning you will be mine
where the fields are smiling
no more people singing
la la la
in one morning you will be mine
where the fields are smiling
where the fields are smiling
