I was going to argue that assumption then I remembered all of the American Idol auditions.

Tell her she's good but needs a little more maturity in her material before she's ready to go forth. Advise her to get a personal coach/tutor/whatever. (and so that part becomes their problem). My friends' daughter was at this stage a couple of years ago, and this is what they did, and now she has producers interested.
