Smooth, you know as well as I do, if she has a music career in mind, YOU, are part of it.
Her friends have told her, her family has told her, her dreams have told her, she's got Uncle Smooth to help. He's got all kinds of connections, he knows the wheelers & dealers, he works in a pro studio all the time, he's IN the music business! So sooner or later, she, and maybe her family, and maybe even your family, is going to back you into a corner, like a big game trophy. You vil help ze girl, ja? Now you're between a shit and a sweat. What to do? What to do? 1 - Tell her what you should have told her when she was 18. 2 - Take her to your professional contacts, to the total embarrassment of EVERYONE! 3 - Join the French Foreign Legion, stat! 4 - Become the family pariah. 5 - Pick your combination of any/all above. Look ahead, see the future, prepare for it today. |
yeah, you pretty much summed up my fears exactly. This is not a simple thing.

so when will we be seeing you in a Legionnaires Hat Smooth ??

I was going to argue that assumption then I remembered all of the American Idol auditions.

I'm with Jim and Zippeh. And sorta with CF
Tell her she's good but needs a little more maturity in her material before she's ready to go forth. Advise her to get a personal coach/tutor/whatever. (and so that part becomes their problem). My friends' daughter was at this stage a couple of years ago, and this is what they did, and now she has producers interested. (yes friends' ;) ) |
