That we know of anyway.

3.Some travelers reported that the flight attendants turned off the lights for the whole trip and served meals in darkness. How does darkness make us safer?
That is strange.

4. TSA reported today that they will pick up the cost of the additional screening as far as time and increased personnel and new machines that will no doubt be added at checkpoints but in reality there will be some new fees added to our ticket costs to pay for this, as in TAXES.
Yup. The worst part is that most people don't seem to feel much safer. I don't travel by air enough to really know how much of pain all tis is, but it sounds prohibitary.

As far as the lights off ... more likely a mechanical failure on the plane, and "The TSA made us do it" is much less scary than "all of the electronics on this plane have gone out." Keeping people nervous about flying calm is a big part of a stew's job.

My husband flew out of BWI this morning -- he said there wasn't any delay or extra hassle. So there's a statistic of one.

The bottom line in that the scumbags are winning. They are beating us to death with insane rules foisted on us by feel good rules and regulations from politicians who want to keep their place as power brokers of what ever country is affected. In the end any determined terrorist will be able to circumvent any dumbassed rule like those recently enacted. Their efforts will just be redirected at another weak point.

He's comparing today with pre-Christmas, as opposed to pre-9/11, I assume.

I doubt the sit-in-place thing will last. Having Crohn's disease, when I gotta go, I gotta go. There's no excuse for making rules this stupid. I can guarantee that if that ever happens to me, I will sue the airline and the TSA.

It might be more effective to carry a piece of plastic. Shit on the seat, cover it with plastic so you don't soil your pants for the remaining less than an hour, then exit in an orderly manner. The airline has more pull with the TSA than you do, give 'em a reason.
