Yes. Overpriced and merely adequate, in short a tourist trap.

Yes, Brianna, there is a Mystic Pizza. They have large flat screen TVs all over the place and show the movie constantly.

I have never seen the movie, but I did like their pizza. Would have liked to have more time in Mystic to try some varieties other than the Teriyaki Chicken that I chose on my first night in Mystic.

My sister loves the movie, so I bought her an apron in the gift shop.

I am home, but I am trying to cope with Mount Laundry, and will be working on reports of wolfcation once the camera battery recharges. I really have to try to get an additional battery for that thing.

I also have to decide whether I want to eat oatmeal and peanut butter crackers for the rest of the week, or if I will try to get to the supermarket sometime today.

Maine is not cold in August.

wolf 09-07-2010 10:42 AM

Maine is supposed to be cool in August. The locals were complaining about the 90+ temps that they were getting the week I was in Bar Harbor. The only time I was actually comfortable was on the Whale Watch Boat ... it's 40 degrees cooler out to sea, which made most people put on sweatshirts, fleeces, and windbreakers. I stood in the bow and relished the coolness in a tee shirt. After Earl passed through, temps dropped back down to the mid to low 70s, which is closer to their normal.

"cool" is a relative word.

I grew up in Maine and thought room temperature summers was a normal thing.

wolf 09-07-2010 10:48 AM

Basically, I was not expecting Philadelphia-type August heat and humidity. PhotogChick (the artist formerly known as JeepGirl) told me to take a winter coat, for goodness sake! She did not expect 90s in Maine, and also did not understand my tolerance to cold.

There was just plain not enough time to see all the things I wanted to see ... I now have a list of things that I will do the next time ... things like Lenny the Chocolate Moose, The Nautilus, The House of the Seven Gables (drove past, didn't have time to go in), at least one of the Ghost Tours in Salem, stuff like that. I also want to get to some of the more inland bits of Maine, where the moose are more likely to hang out. They don't go out onto Mount Desert Island, much. They would either have to walk across the Bridge or swim the channel, both of which have happened, but not with any frequency.

Baxter, out by Katahdin, should provide moosers galore at any waterhole.
