Good ones, I love Delilah!
Heard this on the radio today: |
Fee Tines a Mady

I Can't Fight this Feeling - REO Speedwagon is a big fav.

Maybe it's the melancholy lyrics, or maybe the flute, or maybe it's just that time of year. :)

Tripod's "I'll be there"
These guys are a comedy group, so I felt that the intro to the song had to be included as well. As usual with all their songs, it starts off normal and then starts to take the piss. I'll see if I can get a sound file to add to it. As for the reference to Werribee, I get the impression that for people from Melbourne, Werribee must be a bit like New Jersey is to New York. ------------------ Scod: So, thank you guys, and we hope in some modest way we've, you know, brightened up your life, you know, somehow. And as you go through life, in some small way, the thought of Tripod will always be there. Scod: Candle dies on a bedroom table, Yon: I touch your cheek and you softly smile. Gatesy: You turn to sleep, but I hold you tighter, Tripod: I wanna talk for a while. (Audience laugh) Gatesy: What? Yon: At the end of the day, when you're left all alone, Tripod: I'll be there. Scod: When you're all out of hope, and you just can't go on, Tripod: I'll be there. Scod: I'll be right by your side, Yon: In me you can confide, Gatesy: I will take it in my stride, Tripod: There's no need to hide, 'Cause I will be there. Scod: When the dishes stack up, and the milk gets left out, Tripod: I'll be there. Yon: When the hi-fi's too loud, and you're having to shout, Tripod: I'll be there. Scod: When the lights get left on, Yon: And the Tim-Tams are all gone, Gatesy: And the bill for your phone Tripod: is eight pages long, I will be there. Scod: When the chips are left on, and the kitchen burns down, Tripod: I'll be there. Gatesy and Scod: (I will be there) Yon: When your friends move away to a whole 'nother town, Tripod: I'll be there. Gatesy: When your car has been rolled, and been dumped in Werribee, And your grandma is sold into white slavery, And there's rubble and wreckage where your flat used to be, And the wrong form gets signed, and you wake up... an amputee... Tripod: Yup, I will be there, Yon and Scod: I will be there, Gatesy: You're in my care, Yon and Scod: I will be there, Gatesy: I'll brush your hair, Yon and Scod: I will be there. |

Jonathon Coulter - "Skullcrusher Mountain" (song is cool, video is lacking)
Lyric: "Isn't it enough to know I ruined a pony, making a gift for you?" It's a love song, with a Halloween slant. (Yes, I know it's late for Halloween, I got a calendar) |

It's not tightly focused as a love-song, but there is Warren Zevon's Keep Me In Your Heart. Maybe it's nearer a prayer than a song...
For the copulatory aspect, it's hard to beat Whole Lotta Love. You have to have fallen in love at least once to really appreciate love songs at all. They get a lot less irritating on the Top 40 playlist then. The first love song I ever really respected was John Denver's For Baby/For Bobbie. |
