We should not only protest the strange names for colors, we should NEVER ever order pants from a place that calls them "a pant."
"This lovely tweed pant goes from casual to dressy with just a few additions..." Pant + pretentious = pantentious! THIS is a pant: (and cute) |
And I will refuse to buy from a shop that calls trousers "pants".
No. Pants (in the country) and knickers, briefs, smalls, lingerie. If I walk out of my house in just my pants you'll know about it. |
Trousers always just makes me think of "trouser snake."
What is trousing? What is someone looking for when they trouse? "Where are you going, honey?" "Oh, thought I'd do a little shopping, some banking, maybe some trousing." "Well, you better wear your trousers, just in case." And, like pant, should it be trouser or trousers? :p: |
Trousers. Like pants and scissors, they come in pairs.
|
But what is trouse?
I googled it and got this: World English Dictionary trouse (traʊz) — pl n ( Brit ) close-fitting breeches worn in Ireland [from Irish and Scot Gaelic triubhas : compare trews ] Now we're throwing BREECHES into the pile? Oy. I've heard of them there britches, though. In the south, they call all pants "Coke." |
Breeches?
We close up those with our English dead. Not to be confused with dykes, which are satisfied by a finger. |
My friend's a Web trouser.
He goes on porn sites and pants. |
You mean your friend zippy?
 |
Buttons are better.
I try to rub mine occasionally to remind me. |

half dressed = casual. I have a friend who works for a big clothing catalog house, he 'splained me. |
I guess if you work at IHOP you would only need the pant.
|
And at Hooters you'd would only get the pant.
|
and many panters...
Panting punters? |

Back onto topic... I painted my living room vanilla bean and it came out butter yellow. Just so you know. I thought it would be more of a beige or tan.
