I'd investigate more. leather-elbow patched nerd genii are often not the best at managing their projects..... ;)
But always put your personal safety first. And second. Find out how he plans to pay you. And don't be alone in a place where he knows where you are and when. |
and get a written contract delineating how and when he will pay you and what any contingencies are. Also get expenses paid up front, at least petty cash or a Credit card with a $500. limit on it so you don't have to shell out for gas.
Ask him for references. |
What Monstah and Foot said.
This could be a good gig. It could be a rip-off. It could be really really dodgy. Cover all bases. |
when i see this thread title I automatically think "I'm being oppressed!"

Now we see the violence inherent in the system! |

If this guy has a Brokeback Mountain Collector's Edition DVD in his car, do not get in!
Assuming this really is legit, I would show one landscape and one close photo. You pictures of the flowers were great. Stay safe. |
Well, I slept on it last night, and I am feeling extremely doubtful. For one thing, Monster, "Joe" would have to know where I am. He's the one with the list of sites. But that doesn't bother me as much as the seat of the pants routine does. I've had friends who put in bids with the FS and you don't get paid if you don't do the job right. It sounds waaay too complicated to me to have a boss who is working another job (if he gets another job) and meanwhile try to keep an eye on what people are doing in not just one but THREE National Forests, trying to get everything done before the snow flies (and it flies as early as labor day in some spots).
I'm going to talk with him on the phone later today and see what he has to say, but it's going to have to sound pretty good for me to get involved. :eyebrow: |
Does he need to know exactly what part of which park you'll be in every day?
But if you feel uncertain, that's the feeling to trust |
