Maybe "incumbent" wasn't the best choice of words. Reducing unemployment is something that must be accomplished, and the private sector is the only "entity" that can get it done.

In terms of business being a totally self-serving, greedy, short-term-bottom-line-driven institution, they should do it for themselves because they need consumers to buy their goods and services. Henry Ford paid his workers at a level that enabled them to afford one of the cars they they, themselves, had built. I grant you that, in the short term, high unemployment benefits the private sector (I'll bet you, UT, Wolf, and Classic would accept a job for considerably lower wages just to be employed, saving companies significant dollars) but looking at the big picture, there are fewer "things" being consumed when there is high unemployment.

Recently, "big business" has morphed into some kind of mutant social entity. It can donate to political candidates, and it advertises that it supports worthy causes. If business wants to show that it is a good citizen, it will put what's good for the nation ahead of what's good for itself, as the nation did for it with the stimulus packages and bail outs. At least for a little while.

Do I think this will happen? Probably not. Will our economic environment improve without this happening? Probably not.

Not me, kid. I actually work a few brain cells attempting economic literacy, which this latest throw-more-billions-at-it does not exhibit. The Dem Party is engaged lockstep in the march of folly.

That goes double for... him. Vote him the hell out in 2012 or you are not going to have enough pension to buy a venti, thanks to the inflation the Dems are pursuing ever so crazily.

Did you just call BigV 'kid'?

Clodfobble 09-13-2011 08:10 AM

That's amusing. Vote for the party that tries to make people resent unions for having pensions, or you'll lose your pension.

UG is always a laugh a minute. I read his posts for his whacko statements that I don't believe anyone else on earth could come up with. In addition to voting for the 'Pubs who don't believe in pensions, let's all vote for Perry just for kicks to see what he REALLY wants to do with our Social Security.

I'm waiting for Sarah Palin to come up with the policy that all senior Americans should be euthanized at 65 to balance the budget.

Absolutely, the guy is an idiot. I asked earlier, "How is he going to pay for it?". No one knew. And now we know, more of the same BS from this fool. Wealth redistribution. His grand plan is doomed to fail. It will never make it through this Congress. Most everything that has come out of his mouth since the debate over the Debit Ceiling has been nothing more than hot air.

Anyone but Obama in 2012!

:D
