A TA who left us this year was one of our First Aiders. She could handle any amount of bodily fluids, mis-shapen limbs (she dealt with a broken wrist before my time) large missing peices of skin and gouges. She couldn't cope with eyes though. I'm not talking about orbital blowouts, I mean simply putting in eyedrops or checking for foreign bodies. Long term staff knew this, noobs like me learned it quickly. Those us us with no eye-issues always stepped up to the plate. She was a kind and implacable First Aider and we do miss her. ETA - she left us because she was moving to another part of the country. Not because she witnessed eye proptosis. |
