The old man said fuck a handful of times recently, and his son even took notice. I think it may be tough times for the guy, his brother-in-law and sister both recently died within a few weeks.
That's not why I thought you should say fuck. You should have said fuck earlier, so that it loses its meaning when you say it now. Would you have had to find something more obscene to say now, when it matters? No, you would find, as maybe you have found now, there are no words that describe the obscenity of death.
