A huge number of us, me included, suffer from anxiety-based illnesses or syndromes, all of which generate unrealistic panic or anxiety for basically no logical reason.
Standing in front of a fatal height drop is a pretty logical cause for fear, and if you can't locate exactly where that anxiety is coming from, it's still pretty natural.
Other fears that people suffer from include things like leaving the home. Driving. Going over bridges. Being in public.
One measure of whether an unrealistic anxiety is really, truly a problem is if it actively interferes with your life. For example, from time to time I've had an irrational problem eating in public with other people. I still have this to a small degree. Imagine going to a restaurant and not being sure you can make it through the meal for no reason whatsoever. It's controlled with medication, and I have little doubt that I could fix it with talk therapy, so it doesn't currently interfere much with my life.
