I used to be deathly afraid of moths. Answer to standard first question: No, it has nothing to do with "The Silence of the Lambs". Something about them just freaked me out, but butterflies didnt bother me. Last summer, we had a *lot* of Miller moths and I was forced to confront the fear. They still give me the heebie-jeebies, but I can at least get close enough to them to kill em now.

I used to think I was afraid of heights, but it turns out I'm just morbidly fascinated with being in high places.

jinx is also afraid of being on a burning boat. remember that cruise ship?

and, perth, my daughter is scared to death of moths. ever since one " dive bombed" her when she was in her high chair. she won't even get near one, and becomes quite frantic if they fly near her. weird.

(2 points on the emode test is probably within the margin of error. You two are quite nicely matched.)

Edgar Allan Poe had the buried alive fear too. Wrote some good shorts about it. Unless you have dealings with the mafia, you should be damn dead by the time you get embalmed and stuff.

quicksand.

Undertoad 12-23-2003 03:47 PM

Speaking of mafia, ever since I saw "Casino", I refuse to put my head anywhere near a vise.

This is just an email forwarded pic, but it makes my blood run cold. What are you a'scared of?

Oh goodness! I'm such a ninny...LOL!

I used to be afraid of the dark BIG TIME!
fire
Drowning
needles (mainly the pain part of it all)
Getting a kidney transplant and having it fail. :(
falling from any height and breaking bones
bugs
biopsies (they stick a HUGE needle in ya!)
dying violently (I know...if I'm dead, why should it matter? It just does)...:(

I'm afraid of getting old and frail and unable to care for myself and have to depend on people who don't really give a shit.

Bele - ditto.

The other thing - cockroaches. EWWW.

Beletseri 12-23-2003 08:36 PM

Yeah, cockroaches - just think about being old and dependent in a room with cockroaches.

Back in the poor student days a boyfriend and I were traveling in Florida. We stayed at someone he knew's house in Gainsville. Everytime the lights went out in the bedroom, we heard a scittering scurrying sound. It must have been a bijillion vampire cockroaches. I slept (sorta) up on a chair with my feet up for the night. Ick.
