Ah, the late 80s. A time when it was okay to wear fluorescent colors.

And if that wasn't enough, you had shirts that changed color when touched. HyperColor was sweet, as long as you never put it in the dryer.

I had MC Hammer Pants at one point. And Jelly Shoes.

Oh god I was not going to mention it but now I feel I must. I had a pair of fluorescent green and another pair of orange stirrup legging pants. Oh god I shudder to think of it.

Buttons (oh I had such a collection of these!)

I was mainly an accessory gal. All those designer clothes just didn't fit gals like me. So, I had to make my frumpy gear look cool..heh! :D

weird but back in the early 70's every body at school was ragging on me for wearing overall and camo to school while they all wore disco jeans and platform shoes , but by the late 70's folks were comeing up to me asking where i got good camo pants , "Army boots " and camo jackets . Weird how that style keeps comeing back !!!!

That's someting I can't understand. Why everybody has to wear camo? These are my working clothes. Imagine how people would look when somebody would dress like a doctor or a nurse :D

Obviously, if you dress as a doctor or a nurse, there are far fewer good hiding places available. Scrubs and lab coats just aren't as versatile as traditional camo.

How long would *you* last in the field if you could only seek concealment in hospitals and medical outpatient facilities?

In the early '70s, I owned and wore a lime green, double-knit leisure suit, with a red dress shirt, dark purple shoes with about a 3-inch heel, and a cane. To church. And no, I'm White, and had actually - though it seems incredible, I know - stopped doing drugs at that point in my life.

I just wish I still had that suit - I could wear it down to the ballpark when they have 'Back to the '70s' night. Add a few chains and a big-hair wig, and they'd probably let me throw out the first pitch.

I didn't like 70's fashion then, either.

Well, I started out liking it alright...

OK, I take that back.. no VOLUNTARY fashion disasters to live down. But there is a family portrait from sometime around 1974 featuring my brother (age 12) and me (age 5) in polyester leisure suits.

I spent the last half of my lunch break looking for clothes like the ones you just pictured...big bell denims with a white belt.

I had the matching Pat Boone white buck shoes, too.

I'm having a hard time locating the men's plaid bells online, though.

Lame coincidence: I'm getting ready to drive up to Fort Collins for the weekend for a weekend of drunkenness and debauchery. God, I miss that town.
