we're taking her fishing in the High Sierras this week - will let you know how that goes (bet I don't get al ot of fishing done, just keeping her out of the water and keeping nightcrawlers out of her mouth.)

Hooks out of her butt is pretty important too ... but the thickness of the diapers will probably help prevent that.

plthijinx 05-24-2005 11:33 PM

especially if the draws are loaded! :D

plthijinx 05-24-2005 11:34 PM

staceyv 05-25-2005 08:06 AM

I think this is Lumberjim's kid. It was on the memory card of the digital camera he gave me ;)

I'd rather teach her gun safety and respect for them than just keep them away and tell her "guns are bad", because that seems to be the most common cause of curiousity that leads to "I know where my dad hides his guns, wanna see?" All of our gun owning parent friends have taught their children so well that they know guns are not toys, are to be stored properly, are not to be touched except under direct adult supervision - they do not own toy guns - I really respect this methodology.

that is the way i was taught and that is the way i'm teaching my little cellarite. it's the best way i know. it's the only way i know. if i teach him young then he will respect them as i did as a child. it wasn't uncommon for me at 5 years old to go off on my own with the .22 rifle. i was taught well. i was brought up hunting/fishing on the weekends. i shot my first deer at 6 with a marlin 30-30. not too bad for a bean sprout.

Over here its pretty easy, guns are illegal(exept for cops and really bad guys) so.....no teaching them!

BigV 05-30-2005 10:21 PM

I can understand the cops legal possesion of weapons, but why is it legal for the bad guys too? Some seriously displaced sense of balance, parity?

York 05-31-2005 10:37 AM

It was meant to be ironically! Over here no one is allowed to have a weapon exept people with a license for it , like cops....hunters, and people who shoot for sports! Its all very strict! By "bad guys" i meant the robbers and stuff who get it anyway!

Well, now that we've got guns implanted in her mind, we've added another important category: fishing! She loved it - couldn't keep her away from the water. (And zero nightcrawler or hook incedents!)

xoxoxoBruce 06-11-2005 10:56 AM

I hope that water is warmer than it looks.

Queen of the Ryche 06-11-2005 11:09 AM

She's half Swede - I couldn't keep her out of it - It really wasn't that bad (even though it's pure Sierra Nevada snow melt).
