Tonight, when I got out of my car at home, a doe came walking across the parking lot. She passed within about 6 feet of where I was standing. You know, in a kind of "I know you don't have a rifle and a doe tag" kind of way?
But she wasn't alone. She had a fawn with her, that was so tiny, it had to have been born some time today. Both of them walked to about 10 feet past me, and stood on the lawn, in the very clear light from the security lights along that edge of the parking lot. We stood staring at each other for about two or three minutes before the doe realized that she must have left the burner on the stove and took off with the tiny fawn following behind her. The fawn just about came up to the does knees, if that. |
Okay, I give up. I no longer wish for a digital camera. I'm gonna go BUY one!
The Great Smoky Mountains are sooo picturesque. And I really wish that I had broken down and bought one before I got to the aquarium, the shots of sharks cruising a foot above my head would have been cool. And the hot tub party. And the girl tied to the pool table. And the cabin in the mountains. And the rattlesnake that stopped in to complain about the racket. And the biggest mosquito in the world. And the sign someone posted on a sleeping drunk. And and and... Never again will I miss a photo opportunity like that one. :headshake |
