Come on! Buck up! A few historic hurricanes and tsunami, a no-win war with no end in sight, rampant secular, sacred and corporate corruption, a possible plague-like illness, and 666 running the entire show via a little man named Dubya? The beginning of the New Dark Ages, maybe, but surely not the end.

On the record: Let's not overlook the birth of the red heffer and the possibility of Isreal rebuilding the temple. These plus all the natural disasters, technology allow the mark of the beast, wars should be enough to dust off your bibles and bone up on your redemption.
Off the record: I occationally lead a bible study group, and I teach kindergarten "Sunday school." Despite this, I have a hard time totally buying into the "sign of the times" concept. It's always typical of us humans to mold so called "signs" into a convient concept that suits the current idea. There have been killer storms for centuries. There have always been wars, starvation, etc. One of the reasons why we are more aware of it is becuase we live in an age where information can reach us the second it happens. CNN, internet news. Plus the news outlets love to spread bad news. Flavor of the day. How much information are we recieving from Bagdad as of late becuase of the hurricanes? Something else we do as humans is put God on a time schedule. Time is a manmade concept. God follows his own clock, time means nothing to him. We can't predict anthing biblical, that's why we're told to always be ready. I guess what I am saying is, I am not totally discounting the "signs", and sometimes rain is just....rain. Jeeze, I'm starting to sound like TW, maybe it is the end of times  . |

Well be-bop, that would be an improvement. Reduces agression you know.

So, to beat the dead horse (or migratory waterfowl, whatever): what are you squirreling away for the coming 'pocalypse? Food, water, medical, sanitation, engineering, financial?
And any thoughts on the best water filtration systems? I've ordered the Katadyn Camp Filter, some water purification tablets and some bottled water... |

Yup. Absolutely, they would. Not a doubt in my mind. After all, what's good for business is good for the country. Well, the survivors, anyway. |
Tamiflu, meh. Very iffy, efficacy-wise. Tempest in a teapot, all of it. I've been waiting to catch SARS for-it seems like-years.

I should have added Global Warming to this Thread Title...
So, on the way to work this morning, Selene and I drove by a flock of at least 50 robins foraging around on the median of one of our local urban parkways. This is odd, because (1) robins usually don't hang around these parts by the end of December, and (2) I've never seen more than two or three robins in close proximity before. No shit, this was a huge group of the birds.
Anyone else have any personal ecological oddities to share in this end of the world thread? |
We have 5 more years. According to The Outer Space Connection the aliens aren't coming back to get us until December 24th, 2011 (which seemed like a long way off when I saw this movie in the theater when I was 10 years old.) :tinfoil:
