There is nothing wrong with Green Acres. I watched Green Acres when I was his age. It looks like an ordinary sitcom, what with all the stereotypes and catchphrases and whatnot, but it has a layer of hidden surreality.

For example:

It must have been the first time the meta "breaking the fourth wall" idea came out in a sitcom - GA ran 1966-1970 I think. Oliver starts a noble speech about the glory of being a farmer, and patriotic music is heard... the other characters are suddenly wondering where that music is coming from. That sort of comic bit became more common only later, finally abused to death with "It's Garry Shandling's Show".

The thing that is wrong with Green Acres is that it heralds the passing of time. My son is WASTING his time. He/we should be out frolicking in the snow, building a community of snow people, sledding down various hills, shoveling out our elderly neighbors or baking Christmas cookies. What are we doing instead? Watching Green Acres, still in our 'jammies, and contemplating the various things we might eat.

Today, because of the most recent "storm of the century", we were rewarded with free pizza. And not just basic varieties, either. My slice choices were plain, pepperoni, and blackened chicken with spinach and red peppers.

Ok Wolf - Here's what we really need to know. Did you throw the sandwich away?

Finally remember to do so today because I had to search through the fridge to find the soda I left in there since Monday. At least sodas are sealed and shelf-stable.

I should really just break into the case of MREs, but well, I always believe that emergency rations means emergency ... and not having a good TV dinner for work usually does not constitute an emergency.
