If you're watching American Idol and hoping that the "best voice" or "best vocal talent" should win, you're watching the wrong show.

While I agree that the best wont necessarily win (a great example of that is the fact that the producers weed out a ton of good singers before they even come in front of randy paula and simon) ... but I have to say that I think its getting progressively better... Ace and Kelly would have been top two if it was all about looks...thank frickin god that theyre gone... Mandisa is the female version of Ruben Studdard, and he won.

Mandisa had some bad song choices, including a religious peice... I think thats what did her in.

Late as ever! - Finally saw the 'double' here last night - was going to post then but knackering end to the week with problem ships in Mexico and Uruguay, with documents all screwed up - eventually sorted by midnight!

Did manage to see all the songs in between phone calls - except Taylor's first.

Chris still the powerhouse and hard-to-beat contender. Taylor remains my wild card and reckon it could just be a Chris + Taylor final.

Paris showing her youth - which I think caused the low voting, but I, too, thought Elliot would go - there's a sort of consistent inconsistency there for me.

Kat has a great voice but I'm not sure that she has the edge to take her to the final two. Whereas Chris has a magnetism and you just want to see him perform. Why Taylor for me? He gives and lives his music and that makes up for any ragged edges and wierdness. His 'Something' held me - I didn't expect to see the performance that he gave.

Kat is in trouble.

I feel bad for Kat, but she did suck tonight. I think it will be Chris/Taylor, the final 2, with Chris the winner.

I just realized if Kat gets kicked off, I have to root for Taylor.
