As visitors to this board, we entrust UT to moderate the board as best as he can. I don't always agree with his decisions, but in general, I think he's very fair and tolerant. And I have no need or desire to kiss his ass.

This is only the second "questionable" ban I've seen in 5 years here...that's a pretty good track record.

LJ has tried to run me off this board countless times, and I don't see why he can't be honest about that. He has posted that in so many words in other threads.

I also don't see why UT can't be honest about having banned me once before, nor do I understand why he should insinuate that I flamed the board with threats or nasty pictures. I have a sharp tongue at times, but I don't threaten people with harm or anything like that.

LJ contributes heavily to the Cellar and money obviously talks.

I have no idea why people accuse me of being inconsistent. I have always stated the truth about my circumstances and never been anyone on this board other than Buddha and Mari-not-welcome (as Clodfobble reminded me) for a total of one post. The user name Mari-not-welcome hardly left much doubt who I was.

I didn't start the thread "Marichiko Smokes." LJ accused me of being a liar in the "Why Can't I stop eating thread?" thread. He accused me of being a plagarist in the "Similes" thread when in fact I gave the link to the site and commented that I wished I could take credit for the writing I had edited down and reposted from there.

I didn't start any of this stuff. It was UT and LJ and his faithful wife Jinx and a few others who started posting nasty things at me. Anyone would get fed up if they are constantly accused of being a liar.

I don't have the faintest idea of what Rock Steady is talking about when he refers to a "Mari character" who was a CEO or something on some other board. I was supportive of Gwen/Rocky Steady. His posts on this board have now made me re-think my attitude toward cross-gendered folks. I guess people who can be doubles on one level don't have a problem being doubles on other levels.

Same here. I don't find her any more opinionated than some others on this board. I did see some mutual flaming between her and a few long-time members, but nothing too far beyond the norm.

I was just saying the same thing happened to another friend of mine. A bash thread was started, half a dozen people fought with her, and she got banned. The UT character was JR, the LJ character was NW, and the Mari character was WW. Same play, different actors. This is one of the thing that happens at forums.

UT, you really suck at banning people. We would do a more thorough job than this. At the other place we had multiple mods across several timezones. This is not a good time for you to be asleep at the wheel.

This is still a fucked up forum situation. This is pretty much the worst banning situation I have seen. Some members are so turned off by this incident that they will just disappear, with out final post, without fanfare.

UT is the most patient mod I've ever seen. And how come everyone gets to have a pissy day now and then except UT?

I personally don't know Mari well enough yet to judge. My impression is that she is much like some of the immature drama queens I go to school with, but she has her moments of civility, too. I agree that unbanning is right, for now, until she proves beyond a shadow of a doubt, that she deserves it. She gets a lot of undeserved flak, in my opinion, but she also generates a lot against herself. Mari, I think you should calm things down and think long and hard about how your posts will be taken before you post. lumberjim and everyone else who rags on Mari regularly, back off a little. This isn't the schoolyard and we aren't a bunch of fifth graders trying to prove how badass we are. Are we? Some people (coughjordoncough) piss me off to no end (well, pissed, cause he doesnt seem to be around any more), but I was never any less than civil (at least, I hope I wasn't less than civil). Mari has a persecution complex, I think, but LJ and Co. should lay off a bit too.

I think that if this place is making someone so angry that have to act this way - and reading through the posts it was some pretty angsty, frusterating chit chat - then the individuals time would be better (and healthier) spent elsewhere.

Do you make mistakes as the Admin? Probably, considering you're human, but I don't see them. Remember, for most of your decisions we never know the coulda, shoulda, woulda, so don't be so tough on yourself.

As an active member of the board you make posts. Those posts reflect your views, opinions, experience, knowledge and biases, just like every other poster.

It's a shame that a lot of people (not TW)can't recognize which hat you're wearing and defer to your admin position, rather than debate. It puts you in a position (with some people)where you're not always right, but never wrong. That sucks, because it's no fun for you and with all you put into this board you deserve to have fun here.

Um... well, I got to this thread late, but I'm glad Mari is un-banned. We're all drama queens, we all go over the top. Some more regularly than others.

If I bring something to the discussion occasionally, and am not outrageously abusive, isn't that good enough? If you really want The Truth about us all, you came to the wrong place.

It was asked in another thread "Is it real" as in here, in the cellar, are people really who they say they are? Seems that at least a few people find this to be important, and most, if not all, answered in the affirmative. If it's not real, if we are not who we say we are, if people are free to make shit up as they go along, to sound more interesting, to prop up their own ego's, to win arguments - whatever... what is the point? Why are we wasting our time here - have they canceled television or something?

If truth, honesty, integrity, whatever you want to call it, have no value here, if everyone thinks this is all made up, then no one believes anyone about anything. I think we're seeing a bit of that now, like with Bruce for example.

Marichiko has a habit of telling stories that are not water tight, they leave room for doubt. That can't be said of everyone here, which is why I imagine not everyone is questioned like she is - or maybe it's becuase she's the only female here, I don't know for sure. But in my experience, when engaged in a debate, marichiko defaults to using a personal example to support whatever claim she has made, one which is often highly questionable.
For example; the Clarity Rose thread. Marichiko was questioned about the process for obtaining a housing voucher, and questioned about the lack of housing available. A link to what appeared to be exactly what marichiko said didn't exist was offered. She claimed to have personally visited the home in that link (chosen at random from hundreds in the state of CO) just the week before - and went on to claim that the homes listed on web sites like the one offered were actually never available (the web site obviously being maintained just to fuck with people).
Another example is in a thread about Walmart, mari claims that she was cheated out of benefits by a dept. store where she worked. When questioned about the obligation to pay benefits, to provide a link showing that benefits are a [federal] requirement for full time employment- her response? "Find your own link, sorry, I speak from experience" Hmm, yeah, that's a satisfying debate, but then, I suppose I was kicking her wheelchair by even asking about it. Well, I did find my own link. What was mari's reaction to finding out she wasn't cheated and her personal experience was not accurately conveyed? " Whatever. Believe what you want. Its nothing to me."
