Oh come on. Can you play "Goodnight Irene" for four verses and choruses... on just a ride, snare, and single bass pedal... without speeding up?

Flint 10-25-2006 04:14 PM

If people wanted static time, they'd listen to techno. That's not why people go to see live music.

Undertoad 10-25-2006 04:15 PM

I didn't ask if you DO. I asked if you CAN.

lumberjim 10-25-2006 04:16 PM

Not a chance in hell (unless maybe I had a click track, in-ear...)

Yes, but only once, and then the Universe ends.

Wow! Some things in this thread gave me goosebumps. I believe in the spirit world, I just don't dabble in it, not like this shit anyways. Does standing in front of the mirror in a dark room saying "bloody mary, bloody mary" over and over till you freaked yourself out and ran count? Did anyone else do that?

I always thought I was a puss when I was a kid...'cause whenever my friends played with the quija board, or played light as a feather stiff as a board I was out of there, like a flame that got spit on. I wasn't having any of that, I was a pretty spirtual kid (in the Christian sense) and I felt quilty with a sick feeling in my stomach just watching movies that dealt with demons and those kinds of spirits, there was no way I was gonna play a game that could fuck me up (mentally or any other way as the case may be).

Sidebar: At a birthday party one time some of my friends started playing light as a feather, stiff as a board (and like I said, I wasn't sticking around so I have no idea about the truth behind this). If you're not familiar with this game someone lies on the floor while everyone else gathers around them, puts the tips of their fingers under the person's body, while they chant light as a feather, stiff as a board... the story goes (according to my friends), the person rose into the air, levatation style, and feathers started falling from the sky. I don't know if it's true or not, it's enough to make the hair on the back of my neck stand up and never worry about finding out the legitimacy for myself.

You're serious. You are an adult, who seriously believes that if you say some stupid words you can cause levitation and magically materialize feathers in the air? Seriously.

I've tried to stay quiet, but practically every post in this thread has made me want to bash my head against a wall.

KinkyVixen 10-29-2006 01:21 AM

Like I said, I wasn't there. I believe there are things out of my control that are possible...there are things that are unexplainable...so sue me. Have fun bashing your head against the wall :) and bite me while you're at it.

wolf 10-29-2006 11:22 AM

No, the feathers didn't fall and your FOAF didn't fly. Because you weren't there and thought to be the most likely to be gullible, you got the cool version of the story.

Like most trust games, enough people can lift someone using only two fingers, if the weight is distributed right and the 'victim' doesn't wriggle around too much. The chanting just generates the right 'atmosphere' and is unnecessary to the process.

I too am near speechless. This thread is scarier than any oiuja experience I've ever had.

What about the first one?

What scares me is people really believing in this stuff.
