BigV 05-01-2012 04:31 PM

How was the execution of your work?

Gravdigr 05-02-2012 01:44 PM

Hah! It was poor, V, very very poor. :lol2:

BigV 05-02-2012 02:09 PM

Like Nearly Headless Nick's execution?

Congratulation! What kind of vehicle?

Gravdigr 05-09-2012 03:44 PM

Ima guess it's a Ford.

The square instrument panel panels make me think this.

It's a 1992 Dodge Caravan, I bought it used in 2000 for $2500 and it had 120,000 miles on it.

glatt 05-14-2012 08:43 AM

I'm more impressed after hearing it's a Caravan. You expect a Honda or similar to reach 200K, but a Dodge?

That would be because it's a 5-speed, the other dodge vehicles we have had were automatics and were nothing but trouble.

So is that pic!! Thought I was drunk....

Good catch.

elSicomoro 04-17-2013 08:38 PM

Yeah, I may have taken that picture while driving...

Lamplighter 04-18-2013 07:11 PM

It's not worth looking for the proper thread, so I'll put it here...

A sedan on the freeway had the customized license plate " C GPA "
I read it as "Grade Point Average, and then I thought, it must be something else.

Then I realized the fellow was driving a Lexis.

lumberjim 09-16-2013 02:20 PM

All the modern cars have that arrow. It's so you can tell which side of the car to put next to the pump.

Clodfobble 11-28-2013 08:44 PM

If only you'd checked it one tenth of a mile sooner... Still, that's a lot of damn miles!

Gravdigr 11-29-2013 03:12 PM

Yeah, I was sposed to hit the reset when the odometer tenths was on 2 too...I may have been recovering from an endrunkening...anyway, that should've been eleven twos.

:yelsick:

But, on the bright side, only 111,111.1 miles til the next chance.

Popdigr bought Grand Cherokee One showing 125k miles, so, only 100k, or so, are ours. Outside of rebuilding the transmission, and replacing the water pump, it's been solid as a rock! It's pretty much mine now, I'm the only driver now that he got a 2001 Grand Cherokee. GC One will be 20 yrs old next year.

It took you 2 3/4 months to put 444 miles on your jeep. You need to get out more, bro.

Gravdigr 02-20-2014 03:08 AM

I'm poor.

And it's cold and ugly out.

BigV 02-20-2014 02:59 PM

but it's a Jeep!

Yes, that's my truck. No, they aren't ALL my miles. And currently, I'm at 804595

glatt 02-20-2014 06:31 PM

I've never seen a truck gauge before. It's cool that fuel is so prominent.

Pamela 02-22-2014 10:36 PM

That is very important information.

Today I learned...that my truck doesn't go lower than 31 gallons indicated. However, sloshing fuel will change the reading lower. I have a 165 gallon capacity and I put in 158 gallons. I was beyond fumes and was only running on prayers. $708 bill. Ouch. Note to self, try to avoid buying diesel in New York in future.

footfootfoot 03-06-2014 11:43 AM

Here's my entry. I just happened to look down when I was driving and saw this was coming up in 3/10 of a mile. http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/03/07/3eny7a7u.jpg

Gravdigr 03-06-2014 11:53 AM

Nice catch, but, that's a weird pic. The odo/tripmeter numbers are legible, as are the needles for tach/speedo...But the numbers for the tach/speedo, and the numbers/letters, as well as the needles, for temp & fuel gauges are double vision territory.

Kinda weird.

footfootfoot 03-06-2014 01:59 PM

that is weird how they are sharp.

lumberjim 03-06-2014 02:03 PM

Reverse doppler effect

Clodfobble 03-06-2014 04:26 PM

I bet the camera twisted clockwise/counterclockwise rather than sliding laterally. It's like those time lapse star photos where the stars on the outside make long curved lines, but the one star in the center of the photo looks pretty much just like a dot.

BigV 03-07-2014 09:23 AM

The camera bumped up/down during the exposure. All the elements are doubled, it's just a lot easier to see in areas of high contrast. Even the odometer readout.

glatt 03-07-2014 09:31 AM

The double images are more pronounced at the top of the image than at the bottom, so I think instead of a bump, it was a pivot/tilt. The lower half of the image stayed in the same area of the frame and remained sharp, but as the camera tilted upward, the upper part of the image got that double image motion blur.

Easier for me to visualize than explain, but basically the pivot point was the lower half of the image, so it stayed sharper there.

footfootfoot 03-07-2014 11:18 AM

I'm going to go with the Glattfobble explanation.

infinite monkey 03-07-2014 12:20 PM

Huh? Isn't the double image just the reflection of the gauges on the piece of plastic that covers the gauges? and it angles. so...

or have i just gone stupid? is there really some sort of complex sci-fi explanation? or are most of you stoned and feeling really smart?

Gravdigr 03-07-2014 02:05 PM

Infi, I'm sure that you are many things...I'm equally sure that stupid is not one of those things.

But, I'm going with the Glattsplanation. An up/down jiggle would produce the effect we're seeing, and would not be as pronounced in the vertical plane (explaining the more focused gauge needles, somewhat).

xoxoxoBruce 03-07-2014 04:59 PM

Maybe it's a little shaky because he's taking pictures of his instrument panel at 75 fucking miles an hour... probably drunk... in a school zone.. on icy roads... with children in the car! :smashfrea

Yes, I am many things. I'm a mosaic of madness. A conglomeration of crazy. A diorama of dementia.

But anyway. The more focused gauge needles are because the needles are closer to the aforementioned reflective plastic that is causing the doubly images in the picture.

Oh never mind, I'm sure it's way more difficult than I'm making it. ;)

BigV 07-10-2014 01:53 PM

you don't play much poker, do ya?

odometer wise though... 320k miles, that's a lot of wheel time.

elSicomoro 07-10-2014 02:29 PM

I got screwed by the River.

277,000 miles in just over 3 years. She was very good to me.

My wife's Avalon rolled 300,000 yesterday! Yes, the CE light is on and I reset it every 2 weeks or so. We had it fixed once and cost $600 and lasted a year or so. Took it back to the same shop and they said not to worry about it, just reset it. It passes the state inspection every year.

Gravdigr 07-01-2015 11:00 AM

Ya might try changing the size of your saved pics. My phone saves pics in one of three sizes, yours probably has more choices. Maybe under camera settings.
