extraordinary!

this is *not* her perfoming, only her music and lyrics. But this kind of mashup is called an AMV, Anime Music Video, and this particular one has taken very specific samples from the series Death Note, and set them to this music. Misa, a character in the anime series, is ... clingy and determined and somewhat unstable. The song is a priceless expression of her character. Note how precisely the clips display the text of the lyrics. I love it! Anime geek note, there's a scene "nipping at your heels" where the dog is not from Death Note, but from Cowboy Bebop, my (one of my top) favorite anime series. Enjoy!

the lyrics:

Friday Afternoon You're Gonna Leave Your Office, Go Downstairs,
Hail a Cab to Go Out to the Airport to Catch a Plane to Go Skiing
in the Alps for Two Weeks, Not that I Wanted to Go With You, I
Wasn't Able to Leave Town, I'm Not a Very Good Skier, I Couldn't
Expect You to Pay My Way, But After Going Out With You for Three
Years I DON'T Like Surprises!!"

'And it's subtitled "A Musical Apology"

'In this song I attempt to take back everything I said while
standing in a phone booth on the corner of 49th and 3rd.'

I didn't mean it when I said, 'I hope
The cable in the elevator snaps
When you step on board.'
And I was joking when I said,
'I hope you crack your head
And get mangled by the downstairs revolving doors.'

And I was kidding when I said, 'I hope the
#103 bus
Hits and makes a pancake out of you.'

I'm sorry...
I'm sorry...
Isn't it amazing what a woman in love will do?

And I really don't want to see your taxi on the 59th Steet Bridge
Flip over
And crash through the rail.
And I'd feel bad if at the airport you were
Mistaken for a local sex offender,
Arrested, beaten up, and thrown in jail.

And I really don't want to see you getting radiation poisoning
From the metal detector that all passengers on
Foreign and domestic flights must walk through.

I'm sorry...
Forgive me...
For all the mean things I said to you.

You thought I didn't have a temper.
Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha, surprise!
But I really don't want to see you
Dismembered by the marijuana sniffing dogs
When a simple little nipping would suffice,
Would suffice.

And I'm sorry that I said 'I hope
The plane explodes in mid-air
As it carries you away from me.'
And I'm sorry that I said,
'I hope you break both legs
On the mountain while you ski.'

And I'm sorry for all the nasty things
I said about your mother
Even though we both know they're true.

I'm sorry...
Forgive me...
I'm swallowing my pride,
I'd feel so guilty if you died!
Oh, I'm sorry,
But I'm still mad at you.

We watched the Big Lebowski with the girls last night. Lil' Griff made a connection.

Nevermind. It's already here.

Gravdigr 04-23-2011 03:54 PM

Wondered where I saw that...

"How To Hide An Erection" as shown on a German kids' tv show.

from guyism.com

"You Are Not A Werewolf".

It's not really funny, but Albert Brooks is so good, and Holly Hunter is too. I laughed! I cried! Not really. Well, I laughed.

I did a search not expecting much after my reference to burying the lead from this movie. I never expected to find the exact scene. Good stuff! If you're a crazy movie buff like me.

I've been getting back into Never Mind the Buzzcocks just lately. For those that haven't heard of it, NMtB is a British, music based, panel quiz. It's been going for about 17 years. It used to have a regular host and two regular team captains, but the past couple of years they've been using the 'Guest Host' format. I much prefer the guest hosts to regular hosts, because the show has a different feel each week, depending on the host, whilst still feeling like the same show.

So, here's a clip of one of my favourite recent shows, hosted by David Walliams (of Little Britain). The two team captains Noel Fielding and Phil Jupitas (they sit at the centre of each team) are the only two regulars.

To explain Walliams a little: he is a straight guy who is quite effeminate and an occasional transvestite, whose comedy partner (Matt Lucas) is gay. The press have had an unhealthy obsession with Walliams' sexuality for most of the time he's been famous. Fuelled by the fact he'll flirt with anyone, male or female. On the one hand he has been linked to a stream of famously beautiful It-Girls, whilst also appearing to be 'gayer than Christmas' as one reviwer put it. He was always cagey about answering those questions saying that it shouldn't matter. He's recently married a top Swedish model.

he's very funny.

I've been on a bit of a Walliams kick just lately. That's what got me back into watching the Buzzcocks.

He's written a few children's books. One of them, The Boy in the Dress, has been nominated for all sorts of awards. The interviews he did around it are really interesting.
