Nobody did; voting opened today on some judges' picks. They changed the voting procedure this year.
|
I entered the Washington Post Holiday Craft Contest. Throw a vote my way if you've got an account. It's a weird page, that shows up completely different for me on Firefox and IE. The Firefox one allowed me to vote, while the IE one just showed a slideshow.
|
Cool! I voted. I like the gold thread.

Thanks! |
I don't think it is. (And yes the page is really hard to follow. I was all over the place until I found this rule):
5. From on or around December 10 until on or around December 14, there will be an online vote for a Readers’ Choice winner among a selection of finalists. Finalists will be selected by newsroom judges based on originality of concept and skill in execution http://www.washingtonpost.com/lifest...962_story.html |
Ah. Thanks. I'll check again on or around Devember 10.
|
I wonder if likes change the location of the image on the page.
and the page is a freakin mess. |
You can change the sort order, which puts more likes near the top, but doesn't seem to be in exact order. By default, it's in order of submission.
|
The 'likes' may have an influence on the judges who will be picking the finalists from which we will pick our favorites. Maybe not, but to cover bases we all need to go 'like' HM's creation.
go MONKEY go! |
Excellent one, HM!

I haven't Flickr'd in a while. Here are my Christmas 2012 ornaments:
Rhombic hexecontahedron inside a rhombic hexecontahedron: http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3713/9...18307b09_z.jpg This one I wrapped with double sided tape, then laid a single gold thread around it, and wrapped it again with regular tape. http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5345/9...a502faf2_z.jpg |
I was surprised to see your post until I saw the date. Can you even do tape work in this humidity?
|
Yes, but I haven't done much recently. There's one I haven't photographed yet.
|
Not only do I not know how you form the original rhombic what-cha-ma-call-it,
I don't see doing it with double-sticky tape without leaving skin or fingerprints behind. Then, to lay the gold thread so nicely even. And besides all that: What's the technique for laying the next layer of tape ? And besides all that: I like this one best of all I've seen of your work, HM. Well done ! |
