And yet, despite having grown up with this song, many people of my generation have no idea what YMCA stands for, or what it's original purpose was -they just think it's a cheap place to get family access to a gym, a pool and recreational classes. :rolleyes:

As a child, I was only familiar with the pool at the YWCA and was confused as to why the song was saying the wrong name...
