Hey! Templates came! https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...8091bb4674.jpg
I guess I'll start a thread once I get going, and have something to post.

Well, he's 20 now, so I don't have to worry about that. Also:

Ah, the good old Nissan Cube, star of NBC's Heroes.

xoxoxoBruce 11-06-2018 02:15 PM

Well, it's still ugly... says the guy who bought a Gremlin.

Gravdigr 11-06-2018 02:22 PM

I think they're ugly as shit, and I drove a Yugo. And currently drive a 94 Grand Cherokee. Plus, I look at my face in the mirror.

So, I know ugly.

The ugly knob on the Yugo goes to 11.

lumberjim 11-06-2018 05:17 PM

It's really fun to drive. And it's not ugly. Pontiac Aztecs are ugly. Pacers, Citroën, Suzuki X90: ugly.

This thing reminds me of a microbus. It's a nanobus.

xoxoxoBruce 11-06-2018 06:23 PM

But microbuses are ugly too. :haha:

I could see that it might be. Maybe. In a go-cart kinda way.

I drove a 77 Civic for a while. It was kinda fun around town. In a go-cart kind a way.:D

Isn't there a yuge aftermarket for those things?

lumberjim 11-07-2018 12:23 AM

No doubt. I won't be accessorizing much I think. If Spencer ever does actually go get his driver's license, he can do all that.

lumberjim 11-08-2018 01:50 AM

So I did mount the light switch in the back board.
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...c6c40923cb.jpg

And gave the whole bench a couple shots of butchers wax.

https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...c666a1bc65.jpg

xoxoxoBruce 11-08-2018 06:56 AM

Looks good, you might want a couple outlets in the backboard too.
I hope that wax doesn't transfer to anything you're trying to stain.

lumberjim 11-08-2018 09:05 AM

I have a 5 ft power strip hanging up in the corner above it. I did think about mounting that in the gap above the light switch, though... May do yet.

I figure if I'm staining on that bench, I'll put a towel down to keep the stain off the bench. the wax hardens, though. I buffed the bejeezus out of it last night after it set up for a couple hours.

lumberjim 11-10-2018 10:53 AM

Tomorrow, Amanda and I will be attending a Wedding. A Military wedding. A Gay Military Wedding. Should be interesting.

A friend of mine is marrying his fiance, who is politically connected. My friend drove a van in one of Obamas's motorcades when he was in office. He happens to look a lot like Obama. I told him to keep his head down, decoy.

I'm told a governor or candidate will be in attendance. I'll update after.

Griff 11-12-2018 10:08 AM

Bears further discussion.

Gravdigr 11-12-2018 02:01 PM

Oh, is one of them a bear?

xoxoxoBruce 11-12-2018 11:36 PM

Are those kids dressed in uniforms at the end of the aisle, or really short Marines?

When ever I go to or see pictures of a wedding I invariably mentally picture the couple on their wedding night/honeymoon.
I suppose in the name of equality I should do that here too.

Griff 11-13-2018 06:24 AM

Hey Jim,
What church were they wed in? The Episcopal Curch in Albany just had a freak out and banned same sex marriage in their diocese(?).

This looks fantastic!

Never-mind, I just read the article.

This was surprising to me because the Episcopal Church allows gay marriage everywhere in the US. So I looked into it. It is one Bishop going rogue, and he's about to get disciplined for it. He's not authorized to say what he said. Priests and bishops can decline to personally perform a ceremony, but there are plenty of others who will happily step up and do the ceremony.

lumberjim 11-13-2018 08:39 AM

Xob: Aaron is 6'5". And a couple of the marines looked like children.

Re their wedding night, Christian went off to bed around midnight, but Aaron stayed up with 5 of us, playing pool and talking until 2 or so. We had one mushroom pizza and 10 wings delivered. Cost $45! And I tipped the rude prick that delivered $5. Wow.

We saw them the next morning at Toast restaurant for brunch, too. Spoke to him last night, as he was gonna come by my house for a beer, but I got out after 10, and we were both pretty tired. No honeymoon for them, he had to be back on base today.

Good time though.

Thanks for clearing that up.

Jim this was a brilliant share.

lumberjim 11-14-2018 02:14 PM

You just never know where the day will take you, huh?

lumberjim 11-15-2018 10:03 AM

And now, after a hard day bending over and picking things up, I have 2 clean garage bays.

https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...e9bdfebe3c.jpg

I feel good about it. Used to be that the worst punishment my mom could dish, was cleaning the garage. Irony.

https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...fd92c1038d.jpg

Now I actually have some room to work.

xoxoxoBruce 11-15-2018 10:59 AM

It's still punishment, just self inflicted. :D

Gravdigr 11-15-2018 03:33 PM

Now ya just hafta remember where all that shit went.

lumberjim 11-21-2018 10:34 PM

lumberjim 11-22-2018 12:43 AM

Pistachios are good because it takes approximately as long to shell one as it does to chew the last one.

glatt 11-22-2018 05:19 AM

Indeed

Gravdigr 11-22-2018 12:52 PM

I've never eaten a pistachio.

Is that nuts, or what?

Clodfobble 11-22-2018 05:15 PM

I always think that pistachios are harder to open than they actually are, on average, because whenever the kids eat them they ask me to open the ones they can't manage. So 90% of the shells I open are in the top 10% for difficulty, and it usually puts me off eating them myself.

Plus, sometimes people put the hard to open ones back in the bag, so the later you get to a bag, the harder they are to eat.

Would you pay 12 bucks for 16 ounces of nuts?

Oh but what if it was the perfect blend of pecans, cashews and pre-shelled pistachios?

i will pay

lumberjim 12-01-2018 08:07 AM

I too would pay. Twice. First I'd pay money, then my sphincter would pay because I ate half the bag in one sitting.

Gravdigr 12-05-2018 04:58 AM

$12 fer a lb o' nutz?!

Merry Christmas Lumbers!

Holy shit, Riley looks like a grown woman. They both look so happy, good job LJ!

Merry Christmas!

Gets you every time.

She keeps getting prettier. Amanda was just saying that tonight. She lost 10 lbs in her freshman first semester. You're supposed to gain 15. I had a great couple days with them. These times are getting fewer and farther between off late. We stayed up until 4am playing a trivia game. We opened all of the presents that night instead of this morning. Worked out easy better that way.

Instead of waking up all bleary and having to rush so we could get to my mom's on time today, we slept in and had breakfast, then headed out.

Merry merry Christmas, youse guise!

Heh... I lost 15 my freshman year, because I basically didn't (and still don't) care enough to feed myself. If someone puts food in front of me, fine. But if I have to work for it, or God forbid leave the house? Meh. I didn't gain it back until I had kids and cared enough to feed them.

Merry almost-Christmas to you too!

lumberjim 01-16-2019 03:53 AM

Coasters.
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...a95b2fe1f7.jpg
Felt bottoms

lumberjim 01-16-2019 08:46 AM

A customer gave me a 2" slice of birch branch with that burned in to the top about 5 years ago. I keep it out on my desk for when people say something like, "well, I've never even been in an accident," when I'm trying to scare them into buying Gap coverage.

It gets a lot of knuckle.

And people always say, "Where did you get that? I need one of those!"

Figh Dollah!

I see it's something to do with beer...

lumberjim 01-16-2019 12:54 PM

Oh. Amanda's dad made that. He gave us 2 of them. We gave him our bottle caps, he made resin tops on the tables and used them.

They don't go with anything we have, so they're just kind of sitting in the house. Good pace to set stuff down when you unload groceries, but we need to find them a home upstairs somewhere

lumberjim 01-16-2019 03:21 PM

here's something cool:

Lichtenberg burn process. They use somethng from a microwave and electric current to create fractal burns as though lightening had struck very carefully.

fargon 01-16-2019 07:15 PM

Neeto Burrito. As SusieQ would say.

Griff 01-17-2019 06:31 AM

That is cool especially the leveling jig. A guy locally got killed doing the fractal burn with a homemade setup, so use the sense God gave ya.

Happy Monkey 01-17-2019 10:33 AM

Apparently the American Association of Woodturners has banned it at their events.

lumberjim 01-17-2019 10:47 AM

I'm not even thinking about trying that.

lumberjim 01-17-2019 01:18 PM

What I am thinking about is food. I'm Hongry!

This is the last Christmas present I haven't tried out yet.

Air fryer
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...f3b683044b.jpg

First thing I cooked : Brussel Sprouts with bacon. I bought the sprouts quartered from Wegmans on a whim. Tossed with Pam Olive oil spray, coarse black pepper and 3 slices of low salt center cut bacon. A dash of salt once it was in the pan.

https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...6f7d31fb6c.jpg

Cooked at 375 for 4 minutes and 340 for another 7 or so tossing between.
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...23eafa69d6.jpg

And I was still hungry, so pork loin chops, thick cut and rubbed with sage, wrapped with the same bacon.

Black pepper, no oil added.

https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...c266b4c05f.jpg

Oh emm jeeee, fucking righteous.

Cooked at 400 for 5 minutes to sear it and crisp the bacon. I'll do 6 next time.

https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...59ad14a637.jpg
Then flipped and finished at 360 for 10 minutes.

Came out right at 140°

https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...0138effdde.jpg

So good it'll make your pecker hard.
