We've been contemplating an air fryer for a long time. How is it on cleanup?
|
That's pig-wrapped-pig, Precious!
|
We got one for xmas. Cleanup is simple, most times you can just clean the cookery basket and it's done. Some things you can just wipe up with a towel. Sometimes you need to get drips/crumbs etc out of the area under the basket but it is usually very quick.
Certain things suddenly become "oh that's how we'll do that from now on". I have a frozen chicken entree I regularly buy, which takes 45 minutes from frozen to done, including preheating the oven... in this thing, done in 20 mins Mozz sticks, 8 mins from frozen to done |
i agree with all of that.

Does the stuff really come out crispy and "fried" tasting? Or is it just a tiny, super-efficient convection oven?
|
I'll have to get back to you there. Last night I bought frozen motz sticks corn dogs and frozen uncooked battered chicken tenderloins.
Didn't cook any of it yet, but I'll let you know. |
It crisps, because it is a tiny convection oven :) It just replaces frying as a technique for getting things heated up fast, but it doesn't replace the flavor-enhancing quality of actual fats.
|
I wonder if I could just use it like a toaster, though. Drop one of the Jimmy Dean breakfast swammiches in there and give it 4 minutes or so... Bet it would be fine.
I saw a recipe for a Monte Cristo in the book |
|
Dewd !!!
|
Damn
|
Et tu, R2D2?
|
Dood that bad, I wish I had done that.
|
cruel, unusual

And the corn dog was perfect, as were the motz Stix and chicken strips. This appliance has been promoted to having its own spot on a shelf just outside the kitchen. I could see using it daily. |
First of all, fuck the patriots. It's enough already. Jesus.
Today I tackled dust extraction. Mostly. I wanted a central type set up with ports in the places I mount my machines. And I wanted a port on the bench top for cleanup. I decided on a PVC center duct with hoses coming off at T couplings. Thinking it through, I need blast gates to cordon off sections not in use, so I don't bleed suction. I committed my largest shop vac to the duty. So it starts there. I had measured the dimensions of the hose couplings on it, the dust extraction ports on the drill and saw, and the smaller 2 vacuums. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...4985f053d3.jpg Happened to be that the T couplings had an external diameter close to the internal diameter of the main vacuum hose coupling. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...ae95091e9d.jpg One arm of the T runs up from the vacuum hose, the other up above the bench top where I've attached a hose. The post of the T goes into a cylindrical shut off valve and on to a pipe under the bench. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...dedd30652d.jpg That pipe has another T, or 'drop' to the drill press port. Then another cut off valve and on to the band saw port. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...7060d3da6b.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...36a16856c2.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...10cb813178.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...f34439a20c.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...3ebe8c2f99.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...ed5ea3b893.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...d8efbe50e7.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...8259491d43.jpg |
It'll probably look like this most of the time :
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...1227caa7f6.jpg I can attach the hose to add another machine, like the router if I swap the little pipe for the long one with the hose hooked up to it. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...b021e4fffc.jpg I'm leaving it all dry fit, not glued up so it's modular. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...9600d6b90d.jpg If something starts falling off annoyingly and it's not something that gets changed out, I have the kit https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...38285d7deb.jpg |
Oh, forgot to say that I'm going to get one of those cyclone things. They're pretty cool.
|
Let us know how the cyclone works, I'm thinking similarly.
Also Fuck the fucking Pats. |
There's lumberthing I want to tell you
I've been looking at those cyclone things for years and would also like to know how they work in the real world.
|
Blast gates are a must have.

He just didn't have Brandon Graham available to strip-sack Brady on the final drive. http://cellar.org/img/brandon-graham-tom-brady.jpg |
It seemed like Brady had all damn day back there...

Key freaking west
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...90a9bb597e.jpg I know. Sorry. I'm not very nice. Next week I'll be back up and looking back and the winter will be even rougher. Right now though, I'm sweating my balls off. We're at margaritaville resort. It's the west edge of the key and the big ships dock here. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...9fddc02bda.jpg Rolling out just in time to let us watch the sun set. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...f369528632.jpg |

https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...64fcb05e42.jpg My situation https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...b6679096d4.jpg Ok ok It's actually a bit muggy here. 86° with a wind chill of 92. |
You guys are getting more snow? Damn, I miss snow.... So jelly...
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...392193907b.jpg It's really muggy here https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...b428f3dfef.jpg |
Snowed Sunday night and last night but the total was only a couple inches. It'll start raining about 10 this morning and rain till 2 tomorrow morning so snow-go. That's it, winter is over, all gone, bub-bye.
|
Wull I was about to leave for work but heard sleet on the roof. Remote work today
|
Shutting it down here as well. Wood shop day.
|
It's hot here today. Good breeze blowing at least. We're going to the maritime museum right now, then lunch, a nap and maybe a little slap and tickle.
This is enjoyable. And I'm enjoying it. |
Today the weather ain't so great. Raining and winds 20-25 knots... Whatever that means, but it's blowing purt gud.
I might actually get to read this book I brought. Complete Guitar Repair https://smile.amazon.com/dp/08256015..._KefzCb3NBK9GD Or turn the TV on for the first time... |
Home safe. And it's cold. We had the best weather of the week down there today. We checked out at noon, but had 6 hours to kill before the flight home. Took the trolley tour, had 2 really great bloody marys and a seafood lunch. I wore my feet out pretty good. Glad to be home and to have 3 days to myself before work Monday.
We usually push it to the bitter end and I have to go back to work short on sleep. Amanda is going to sleep her ass off tomorrow. |
Welcome back! I know what you mean about pushing to the end. I figure we should be home by 2, with luck, and I don't have to be at work until 6, so we're cool.
|
Yeah, I think we're better off with a little home time after vacations.
|
Longer vacations!
|
I wish I could take 2 of my 3 weeks in a row, but that's too much of a burden for the other guy, having to cover that long.
|
My sister came and took us to see Bert Kreisher last night. He is a trip. Does his show topless.
We had a great time. Then we walked to the Glenside Tavern and had a couple beers, talked to the bartender who looked like a teacher, but was an old dead head. Fun time |
Do you think it looks like me because I look like a cartoon? https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...ecc7040e65.jpg
|
Yeah, you're larger than life. :yesnod:
|
Well that's pretty damn cool.
|
She straightened my teeth. Nice lady.
Deb Schafer http://www.artgirl.com/ I was at the diamond dealer event last night with capital one. They had 3 artists doing these. She was, by far, the best of them. I didn't know anyone there, so it gave me something to do during the cocktail hour. And she has a friend that she just gave a mountain of redwood to, and tells me she'll ask him to give me some. We'll see. I over tipped her, so just maybe she will. |
Mmmmm, redwood.
Cool pic! |
Talked to the guy. Redwood is all milled too thin, but I'm going to go see his stash. Osage orange and black walnut. Might come away with something useful
|
We're trying to buy this place:
https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/1...38285266_zpid/ https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...a38e4c830b.jpg It's exactly what we want, exactly where we want it. No way this goes through. We're approved for the mortgage, just hope they accept our offer. Fingers crossed. |
Good luck Brother
|
Just saw the Zillow thing , 3/4 of an acre , not to much , not a postage stamp ,
Nice interior as well , and a pool , Dude , the Pool is worth it ALL !!! |
Twould be nice to come home to. In this town, 3/4 acre is huge. Most are less than a third of an acre. It's only 1.5 blocks from where we live now. It's so Too good to be True, that I'm hoping it just might. It checks every box. And has a shit ton of closets. I'll probably get fired tomorrow, or die or something ironic.
I want it. |
Brilliant!
|
What an awesome house! Good luck.
|
Hope you get it.
|
Perfect, it's got everything. The Squire of Merchantville... has a nice ring to it.
The tradeoff for a lot of room is that means a lot of maintenance. |
I just got a chance to check the Zillow listing. Holy cow is it beautiful! I should move to New Jersey.
|
That location is remarkable, you can get anywhere fast
|
I just signed the offer. Offering 380. Please please please please
It would be so freaking awesome. The location is ideal. For us. And it's kind of hidden in plain sight. That side yard and big porch remind me of The Big Chill. The scene where they're playing football in the yard. Always been the mental image I have of Home. My hopes are way way up. I don't usually let myself do this, but I've got a house boner that's lasted more than 4 hours. |
It's certainly a boner worthy property.
I certainly hope you score so you'll have the facilities to entertain us all. :D |
It's kinda fun to see someone get so excited.
:jig: |
