check out the car anti theft devices in the archives.. pure brilliance.
Some parts probably not safe for work. Much blood and violence, an all around good time i'd say.

That was either mean...or cute. I'm not quite sure which, yet.

Historic Cities - Maps & Documents

High res images of old maps. And stuff. Well, *I* think it's cool, anyways.

I especially like this one of Paris.

I think just putting up a page that said "you misspelled it!" would be kind of snarky. But putting up a dynamically updated graph of the number of hits was funny.

perth 09-29-2004 02:24 PM

Draw!

This is kind of neat. It would be cool to get more colours in there, but I got some cool little scribbles out of it.

glatt 09-29-2004 02:40 PM

That is pretty cool.

Roosta 09-30-2004 06:12 AM

Some nice pics of crashed ships, planes rolled into drains by maintenance crews and container mishaps.

I was absolutely mesmerised by this story. Kind of reminds of the vignettes aired on This American Life, though I'm pretty sure that "Craziest" is a work of fiction.

Thanks LabRat. There's a station less than a half mile downstream from my house. It shows that Tuesday night the creek jumped from 3 ft depth and 50 cubic ft/sec to over 16 feet and 10,000 ft/sec. So that's why the road was closed Wed morning. :eek6:

Find your phone number sequence in pi!

[your number] found starting at position 39905418 to the right of the decimal point.

(I was originally going to post my results, but then realized that probably wasn't too good of an idea, in the event that anyone was actually obsessive compulsive enough to try to find me. I don't live all that close to that police station ...)

Cyber Wolf 10-12-2004 06:41 AM

Thanks for letting us know! :D

Yeah, but what if someone is obsessive/compulsive enough to count all the way over to that position? Wouldn't they worry you all that much more?

Roosta 10-13-2004 05:03 PM

Here's bizarre! It misses off the 3 at the beginning of Pi. If your phone number is 3141592, far from telling you your number is found right at the front of Pi, it finds it starting 25198140 from the decimal point.

Happy Monkey 10-13-2004 05:08 PM

I guess they figured if your phone number is 3141592, you can find it yourself. ;)

Would you try a little harder to offend me next time? I thought that was funny.

From the "Phrases that make my blood boil" section:

"The grass is always greener on the other side:

If the grass is greener on the other side, then the guy with the greener grass doesn't think your grass is greener now does he, asshole?"

glatt 10-26-2004 10:09 AM

Improv Everywhere is a group that does harmless pranks around NYC. They have done a bunch of funny stuff, which you can find at the link I just provided. Maybe my favorite is the Dollar Dudes. I wish these guys were around here.

redsonia 10-27-2004 11:22 AM

This is a great parody of Bush's wolf ad!

http://www.wolfpacksfortruth.org/

glatt 10-27-2004 11:36 AM

Fortunately for me, I haven't been subjected to any Presidential campaing ads this year. I'm not in a battleground state. So I have no idea what "wolf" ad you are talking about.

redsonia 10-27-2004 11:52 AM

Here's a link to watch the actual ad, if you want.

wolf video

wolf 10-27-2004 08:06 PM

Oh. The TV campaign ad.

Don't mind me.

Nothing to see here.

Move along.

Bullitt 10-28-2004 01:17 PM

I have the privledge of living in the "battleground state" of Ohio, so my buds and I get to see these frickin ads everytime we turn on the tv. They're actually not all that annoying when you just mute the tv and do a voiceover of what the candidates actually want you to believe.

wolf 10-28-2004 05:44 PM

I would like my mail to go back to normal ... the amount of campaign related junkmail is outstripping my regular junkmail. I almost wasn't able to find my cheaperthandirt.com ammo catalog within the morass of flyers, cards, and handy guides to this and that.

Trilby 10-28-2004 05:50 PM

I almost wasn't able to find my Adam and Eve catalog!

Undertoad 10-28-2004 11:44 PM

They have new stuff. :) ... or rather :(

flippant 11-10-2004 11:56 AM
